1. Former PDP National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh has broken his long silence in his Democracy Day message. According to him, a lot of the talk has been on the progress in the fight against insurgency and corruption, but that the main democratic ideal had been ignored by the current government. Metuh said that rarely in the history of democracy has the country seen such bitterness and bickering, religious and ethnic divisions, and social and political disorder as seen these days.

2. The Indigenous People of Biafra has warned of alleged plans by the Department of State Services, DSS to use hired youths to sabotage the May 30th sit-at-home protest. IPOB media and publicity secretary, Mr Emma Powerful said in a press statement that over 100 youths have been hired, with t-shirts bearing the same inscription IPOB printed on them to be used Tuesday to impersonate genuine members and to cause trouble. He said the aim was foo kill innocent youths.

3. A report by Economic Confidential indicates that the IGR of Lagos State of N302bn is higher than that of 30 States put together excluding Lagos, Ogun, Rivers, Edo, Kwara and Delta States whose IGRs are very impressive at more than 30% each. The 30 other states merely generated a total of N258bn in 2016.

4. Various commands of the Nigeria Police have warned pro-Biafra agitators against unlawful activities following the May 30 sit-at-home order by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). The commands while giving the warning expressed their readiness to deal with perpetrators of violence.

5. Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, says President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration has fulfilled his campaign promises to Nigerians. Mohammed said through N-SIP, the Federal Government provided employment to 200,000 unemployed graduates, engaged 57,000 people through Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP) and empowered about 26,000 ordinary Nigerians through Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT).
6. The Lagos State Government has reportedly declined to negotiate ransom with the kidnappers of the six abducted pupils of Igbonla Model College, Epe, saying the security agencies should be able to secure the release of the pupils. Report says the government made its position known in a meeting with the parents of the pupils, where it said it would not talk with any kidnapper.

7. Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, reiterated yesterday, that public funds looted in the past few years in the country must be accounted for by those involved. Osinbajo stated this in a nationwide broadcast to mark the second anniversary of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, saying corrupt Nigerians would surely be prosecuted no matter the number of years it takes.

8. The management of the University of Ibadan on Monday shut down down the school following a protest over the issuance of students’ identity cards before the first semester examination and use of electric-powered cooking appliance in the hostels.

9. Western Regional Police, Ghana, has arrested five Nigerians for allegedly trading in contraband and over the counter medicines, mostly for penis and buttocks enlargement.
The country’s Pharmacy Council, has vowed to clamp down on such operations.
The Nigerians were arrested after a swoop by the Western Region Office of the Council with the support of the Police.
10. The Department of State Security Service, DSS, will today hand over the 82 Chibok girls rescued by the Federal Government to the to Ministry of Women Affairs from where they will begin proper rehabilitation. The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, made this known while addressing newsmen on Monday. According to him, the 82 girls, who have been in the custody of the Department of State Security Services since their rescue, were made to undergo several medical tests and treatment.
