How can the psychopathic devil of a woman be granted bail after such extremely inhumane treatment of the poor girl? In what way is that JUSTICE? How does that differ from the rich escaping punishment by using their wealth to erase their crimes? Doesn't she deserve severe punishment for such cruelty and criminality? Chuks, a trader, who resides at 19, Ojo St., Shasha, a suburb of Lagos, is facing a four-count charge bordering on assault

The prosecutor, Sgt. Raphael Donny, told the court that the offences were committed between May 2 and May 22 at the residence of the accused.

Donny said that the accused alleged that the housemaid stole her money and beat her mercilessly.

“The accused locked the girl inside her toilet, fed her once and didn’t allow her to take a bath or change her clothes for those weeks in bondage.

“It was one of the neighbours who could not bear the torment anymore that informed the police”, he said.

The prosecutor said that following the report, the police visited the house and found the girl in the condition.

“Hence, the accused was arrested while the girl was taken to the hospital for treatment”, Donny said.

The offences, he said, contravened Sections 171, 207, 245 and 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

However, Chuks pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against her.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Davies Abegunde, granted the accused N1million bail with two sureties in like sum.

Abegunde ordered the accused to pay N200,000 into the Court Registrar ‘s account as part of the bail conditions.

She adjourned the case until June 21 for mention.

Some women matter just tire me walai! How can a 34yr old young woman be this callous? How can a human being lock up a fellow human being(14yr old) without food? I keep asking why some women give birth to more children only to give them up as maids to be ill treated by people, is it that women haven't heard of family planning?

my sister inlaw is just 31 but she verbally and physically abuses her house girl like there's an award to win for being mean.
Currently my best friend is northerner a Muslim in particular and i have comfortably done a business over 600k with him under 6 months, but my Igbo friend I've known since 2006 I lost 120k under a week last year and all he did was insult me that I wasnt paying him enough to do the job.. I had to stop and count my losses and end the friendship. him and his wife have not called till today... Arrogance is another problem of the Igbos.
