Ghanaians don’t cut their Okro like that. Igbo’s do.

Ghana has a traditional cornmeal eaten with okra stew, just like coucou. They call it Banku. Corn-based meals in the Caribbean generally have striking Ghanaian parallels. The Caribbeans have another corn-based dish called conkies which is just like the Ghanaian kenkey (the names even are similar.)

How the okra is chopped seems too small a detail to be the basis for attributing the meal to the Igbo. The chopping method could have arisen from syncretic meeting of Akan and Igbo in the Caribbean, but the origin of the dish itself seems to be firmly in Ghana.

okra is a traditional Igbo meal and attributed to the tribe. The name of the fruit is even Igbo. Yoruba call it Ila and Igbo’s call it Okra. Okra is majorly and Igbo dish though. I don’t know about Ghana.
