What follows is an except from the Guardian story, "Why Obama Hit Nigeria Very Hard, Mutallab Inquest Raises Dust"
By Martins Oloja (Abuja Bureau Chief in London)

. . .US, British, Nigerian Intelligence Officials Now Collaborate On Investigation

THE GUARDIAN confirmed at the weekend that the American and the British intelligence and security operatives now meet regularly with their Nigerian counterparts as investigations continue even after Nigeria has been classified.

Before the intercontinental intelligence collaboration with the security agencies, the Nigerian intelligence outfit headed by the National Security Adviser, Major Gen A. Sarki Mukhtar (rtd) had grilled Alhaji Umaru Mutallab over why he reported his son's whereabouts at the American Embassy and to former National Security Adviser, instead of the Nigerian security and intelligence agencies.

Interestingly, he (Mutallab) is the current Chairman of the Barewa Old boys Association and some of the top chiefs in the intelligence and security community in Nigeria, including the Director General of the State Security Service, Mr A. Gadzama are active members he has had access to.

We learnt the former Chairman of the First Bank, Mutallab who was accompanied to the interrogation venue in Abuja by his lawyer, Alhaji Mouftah Baba-Ahmed was specifically asked why he did not report the issue with his son to the relevant agencies in his country.

We were told that the distraught Mutallab who has been invited to testify at the United States Senate Committee on foreign relations on January 20, reportedly told the investigators that, "I was really confused" about the agencies to report to.

The inquest was said to have revealed that the Nigerian Intelligence Agency, the NSA reportedly queried through a letter dated December 28, 2009 as exclusively reported by The Guardian actually did not get the report directly. He (Mutallab) was said to have confessed to the investigators that he indeed reported to the former NSA, General Aliyu Gusau, who in turn informed an officer in NIA who was told by Mutallab to treat the issue informally.

It was revealed to the inquirers who quizzed Alhaji Mutallab that, thereafter the NIA officer allegedly concealed the intelligence he revealed, probably due to the transition going on then in the agency (NIA), where Ambassador Omehe was then handing over to Amb. E O Oladeji, who was queried by the NSA over the problem created by the Christmas day botched terror act.

Meanwhile, The Guardian was told that the American and British intelligence operatives have wondered, "why the Nigerian news media have failed in their professional responsibility to help do some profiling of the influential father of Farouk, about what he knew about his son, his relationship with his son, when he last saw his son, when he last gave him money, why he (Farouk) had a Yemen connection, precisely where he Umaru Snr had a marital relations, his business and religious connections with Yemen, now a flash point in religious extremism, "

We learnt that the CIA, FIB, and M16 (British) officials that have been collaborating with their Nigerian counterparts have wondered why no Nigerian media organ had interviewed the Chairman of JAIZ Bank, Alhaji Mutallab on the points at issue, specifically on what he did not tell the American Embassy and Nigerian officials.

The Guardian learnt that the interrogation Mutallab had gone through also covered: "the sources of his wealth and the houses he has acquired in choice places in London, including the one his son was staying in London as a student, "

Meanwhile, sources close to the interrogation and collaboration with the CIA and FIB said the American security officials that have been classified as part of what their President specifically called "systemic failure" have been answering from their Nigerian counterparts why the American government decided to classify Nigeria as a terror "high risk zone," even before investigation began.

Investigation said that most of them agreed that the classification was "rushed by forces beyond their control in Washington D.C, where the decision was taken by politicians and state officials that have been thoroughly criticized, even as it has turned out that the inability of President Obama to speak directly to his Nigerian counterpart, now recuperating in Saudi played a major role in the politics that shaped the noisy classification.

But as an official said the weekend, "one of the reasons the Obama government is reportedly desperate for a strong African leader to engage in diplomacy, is that Nigerian government has consistently failed to bring suspects in the serial religious riots in the northern part of Nigeria to book. They have never demonstrated seriousness in that area"

Coincidentally, It was former president Olusegun Obasanjo who had last week told the BBC as reported by The Guardian that citizen Farouk Mutallab must first be condemned by the government and the Nigerian government should assure the American government that it was doing everything possible to prevent a recurrence of the December 25, 2009 terror act by the 23 years old Nigerian. Obasanjo had then said it was only that measure that could affect the American disposition towards de-classification, when necessary.

But as an American official told us last week, "we regard all religious riots in Nigeria including Kala Kato, Hurra Boko Haram as Alqaeda and terror elements that must be dealt with very decisively. Nigerian officials must note that, "

shocked
Corruption always has a way of turning around and biting back. The issue was treated informally and the boy became a terrorist that has singlehandedly affected the international outlook of a nation.

But as an American official told us last week, "we regard all religious riots in Nigeria including Kala Kato, Hurra Boko Haram as Alqaeda and terror elements that must be dealt with very decisively. Nigerian officials must note that, "

Excellent.

Only an apologist will see a sound reason in the above article for why Obama placed Nigeria on that terrorist list. The article says noting so much as America has a set of criteria, which potentially places all of the world’s developing countries on banned list. Of Mutallab’s lack of association with Nigeria (except by birth) and America going ahead regardless to place Nigeria on that list, the article has nothing new to say.

Obama is a Coon.

I don't know why Nigerians are still arguing that we are not breeding terrorists when the no 1 security chief in the Nation Mike Okiro in 2008 told us himself that Al-Qaeda was training some Nigerians and had infiltrated into the country. We just like being too emotional for nothing rather than treating the matters at hand.

As per Muttalab, I even heard the senate debated last week on honouring the father with a Nationa Merit award for reporting his son to security agents.
What a Nation!

Yes sir. . . . the religious progroms which the Northern cabal have sponsored and overseen since the 1960's are now being given their rightful definition - Terrorism!

Every Southerner who has experienced one of these riots must agree that these religious riots are terrorism.

Where Nigeria becomes a terrorist state is in its failure to bring these elements to book.

Terrorism is not only defined as such if it is aimed against the white man. Many Igbos have been terrorised in this country.

Nigeria is a terrorist nation.
