Alhaja Wasilat Obanikoro, mother of Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, a former minister of state for defense is dead.

NAIJ.com gathered that Alhaja who is fondly called Iya Lati, died in the early hours of this Saturday morning, June 3, after a very brief illness at the age of 95.
She had been a petty trader in the past and lived in her Isale-Eko house where she died.


She will be buried 3pm today at Ikoyi Cemetery in Lagos in accordance with the dictates of Islam.

Iya Lati is survived by many children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In a recent report by NAIJ.com , Obanikoro, who served as minister under former President Goodluck Jonathan said he will leave the Peoples Democratic Party if the Supreme Court affirms Senator Ali Modu-Sheriff as the party chairman.
Obanikoro's visit with Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, Speaker Mudashiru Obasa of the Lagos state House of Assembly and former Deputy Governor Femi Pedro to Tinubu in the latter’s Ikoyi home had spurred speculations that he had joined the APC.
