Residents of five communities in the Ado/Odo-Ota Local Council of Ogun State say the broken down condition of Igberen Road, Ota, has affected negatively on their way of life.

They said a few land-owners have abandoned their property, while business exercises had been influenced because of the poor condition of the roads. The residents, including occupants of Ifelodun, Ekotedo, Orelope, Aboloyin and Oremeji communities, amid a challenge on Saturday, said they had burned through a large number of naira in repairing the street, adding that all interest to the state government has demonstrated unsuccessful.

They noticed that the effect of heavy obligation trucks, including those of the Ogun State Waste Management Board, which dump refuse in a refuse dump in the zone, were in charge of the harm of the street.

The protesters showed placards, which read: ‘Please, stop deceiving us Ogun State Government, keep your promise on Igberen Road,’ and ‘Ogun State Waste Management Board should please repair our road,’ among others.

A landlord and Chairman, Ekotedo Community Development Association, Mr. Nojeem Akinyemi, said the street ends up plainly flooded at whatever time it rains."Heavy trucks that dump refuse to the waste dump here spoilt the street. There was a period we contributed N2 million to repair the street and clear drainage channels. At the point when the state waste administration authorities saw the repair, they guaranteed that the state government would help us."

The Chairman, Iju-Atan Ilogbo Local Council Development Area, Mr. Jamiu Yakubu, who address to the protesters, said the chamber was working with the state government to guarantee that the street was developed.

Likewise, Alhaji Amosun Oyesiku, Senior Special Assistant on Environment to Ogun State Governor, said all the past letters composed by the communities did not get to the administration. "Now that I am aware, it will bring to the consideration of the Governor," he included.
