A popular church called “Living Stream International” in Accra, Ghana, has held a thanksgiving service for Chelsea for winning the 2016/2017 Premier League title.

One of the pastors, who is a Chelsea fan, Pastor Azigiza, encouraged people to wear football jerseys of their favourite Clubs to the service.

A cake was presented during the service and it was called “Chelsea cake” which was presented on a stage made to look like a football pitch.

Azigiza who said he wants to use the power of football to tall about God said: “Chelsea, by the grace of God, came first.”

In his sermon, Pastor Markwei talked about “the good, the bad and the ugly of rivalry” suggesting that football fans should engage in friendly rivalry.

Azigiza thanked God for Arsenal’s victory “because it means that Arsene Wenger will stay” and they cannot win the league with him” he said.

Fans of all teams that attended the service, said Azigiza only wanted to defuse rivalry between supporters of different clubs.
