Lets assume you saw a dell laptop at the market that uou want to buy @97k but you did not have the money so you went to you pareants and borrowed 50k from your dad and 50k from your mum

Now you bought the laptop for 97k with 3k left as balance ,so you decide to give your dad 1k and your mum 1k as down payment for the loan they gave you making their balance to remain 49k while you hold 1k for yourself.

When you want to pay up the loan . Remember you are now owing them
49k +49k= 98k plus the 1k you kept for your self making the sum total 99k . Then where is 1k to complete the 100k

Even if you add the 2k you gave them the money will be over to 101k

Every loan comes with interest so the 1k I have with me, I'll use it to pay interest on the loan. Then collect the 2k from them and complete the money to 100k

You bought the laptop 97k so if u have to sum up the loan you are ownin your parents it has to 49k + 48k=97k so you are left with d 3k giving one person 1k and the other 2k.

So 49+49=98 to buy somtin of 97k
98-97=1k
1000÷2(both parents )= 500
So then u give them back their 500 each which is the amount they gave more than the actual price

Which would be 97÷2 =48.5 but they paid 49 instead
So then 49k-48.5k=500naira

So then
50-48.5=1.5k

The way the question calculated it is wrong nd is meant to confuse u

If u want to take it literally then u were given 50k from both of them ur change was 3k u didn't add anything so just divide it by 2 nd give them both halves

Now simple Mathematics

Laptop 97k
Return money to daddy 1k
Return money to mummy 1k
Transport 1k
Total 100k

To confirm
Now you owe your mummy and daddy 98k all together, which is 49k for each of them

And you went out to work or search for money and you have the exact 100k at hand
To return the money you borrowed
Remove 98k you borrowed from them, which left you 2k, the 2k left is the one you gave them back for 1k for each initially, because you bought laptop 97k and transport 1k,which is 98k you bought from them.

Suppose you didn't return any money back to them, that time you borrowed money from them, which means the total money you borrowed is 100k, it means you used 97k for laptop, 1k for transport and you left with 2k for hand.... I think i clear it well

Parent B's share = 50k
Cost of laptop = 97k
Amount remaining from debt = 3k
Transport = 1k (still part of the remaining 3k)
Part of debt repaid = 2k (1k for each parent)
Debt remaining = 100k - 2k = 98k.
Each parent gets 49k from the 98k.

The 1k you kept for transport is still part of this 98k that is still owed. So there is no missing 1k.

sum of A + B + C =3K

Which kind question be this? The solution I gave is correct and so simple that a 2-year old should grasp.

You never had any money before taking the loan; that means the 1k is still part of the 98k that is still owed. Please go over my answer again; it's quite straightforward.
