The pressure on the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Samuel Nkanu Ononoghen must stop!

Judiciary as an arm of government is constitutionally designed to be independent. This over the years has given even opposition parties the opportunity to win cases against the government in power. In a functional democracy, Judiciary is meant to be for the opposition, the government in power and the masses. Countries like United States of America have proven that the Judiciary should be independent and not an offshoot of the executive. This they have demonstrated in recent cases against Donald Trump in the United States.

Unfortunately in Nigeria, a certain group of persons in the Executive arm have continued to mount pressure on the judiciary and as such putting the independence of the Judiciary in jeopardy. The interference in election tribunal matters of Abuja state, Rivers State, Akwa Ibom, arc which the supreme court stood firm and reversed has remained a great shock to the cabals. These situations which threw them off balance have made them to continue to pressure the Judiciary over matters of National importance in Nigeria.

However, commendations must be given to the Chief Justice, Justice Walter Samuel Nkanu Ononoghen for standing firm and believing in the independence of the Judiciary. The just concluded Abia State election matter where the CJN cautioned politicians to leave the Judiciary alone is an eye opener to what the Judiciary has been facing in the hands of the APC and the cabals. We are not unaware of the pressure on the CJN and the Judiciary to compromise on the PDP leadership matter before the supreme court. THIS MUST BE VIGOROUSLY CONDEMNED! The cabal, especially the Attorney General of Nigeria, have continued to use the name of President Buhari to destroy all democratic institutions and values in Nigeria even when it is visible to the blind and audible to the deaf that the president has no hand in most of the dirty deals done by the cabals and enemies of a progressive Nigeria. The question right thinking Nigerians and lovers of democracy should ask is; why is the AGF interested in the decision of the supreme court to recall suspended judges who have been blackmailed by the AGF and his cohorts without evidence? This nonsense must stop in Nigeria! The AGF should know that the Judiciary as an arm of government in a federal system is not under the supervision of the Attorney General's office like the EFCC. The judiciary should be fully insulated from any kind of interference from the Executive. We challenge the Judiciary to speak out and free themselves from intimidation by the Presidency before it is too late, as the time to assert total independence for the Judiciary is now!
