When the report came that Igbo people in the north had been given three months to leave the region as the clamour for Biafra continues to gain momentum, many were worried about the development.

The quit notice to all the Igbos in the region came from the Coalition of Northern Youths (CNY) the group also urged northern people in the south-eastern part of the country to immediately start moving back to their various states.

Speaking at a press conference at the Arewa House Kaduna on Tuesday, June 6, a top member of the group, Alhaji Abdulaziz Suleiman, said all northern civil society and pressure groups are mandated to mobilize for sustained and coordinated campaigns at their respective states.

What are the likely outcomes of this order:

1. Arrest of all those involved for inciting violence

To forestall violence and serve as a warning, the best move would be to arrest those involved in the pronouncement and prosecute them for inciting violence in the country.

There are reports that the Kaduna state government has issued an order for the arrest of the people involved in the pronouncement.

2. Outbreak of violence in the north

Outbreak of violence in the north is not far-fetched. The group that made the pronouncement might of course make good on its threat after the deadline given passes. This could lead to violence like Nigeria has witnessed in the past.

3. Outbreak of violence in the east

Of course violence in the north will lead to reprisal attacks in the east on the northerners living in eastern Nigeria. Retaliatory attacks are to be expected if things degenerate like in the past.

4. Increase in Biafra agitation

The agitation for a separate of Biafra by the Igbo people of Nigeria is due to killings and injustices meted out to them in the past. This agitation will only increase due to this recent threat on their lives and property.

5. Mass exodus

To save their lives, many will definitely begin an exodus. If people in both the north and the east feel like they are in any danger, they will move to anywhere they feel would be the safest as long as they have the means to.

Meanwhile, the Igbo Youth Movement (IYM) has warned that it is prepared for the fight against any provocation coming from the north.

Reacting to the three-month notice handed Igbos in the north by some groups to leave the region, the IYM said the people of the south-east were not scared of war.

Please I am not for or against these fight but if it must happen, make the north ( Kaduna) the battle ground and no where else so that the blood they so thirst for will flow on their land. I pity just people from middle belt cos when they travel to the north, northerners call them igbos & when in the south, they refer to them as northerners.
All middle belt people especially the idomas from benue state staying in the north, make una go una villages too cos if e set, na igbos una be for there o......!!

One other thing that could happen is that the groups get reported to the ICJ with pictorial evidence of mass eviction of Igbo's from the North (which would be ethnic cleansing, a crime against humanity), leading to the arrest of their ring leaders to the Hague to face international justice Charles Taylor style.
