With the recent threat to leave the north, Igbos should not leave the north now but they should look towards leaving as soon as possible.

If Fulanis are serious, they should first vacate the SE and SS and hands off their ownership of the oil fields in that region. Then they will have the moral grounds to ask anyone to leave the north. Needless to say we need to stop consuming the Fulani cattle and goats used to create poverty by using them to destroy farmlands in the south.

However in the interim, igbos should send their wives and children to schools in the SE for their safety while they remain in the north and slowly divest from the area.

It will make sense to relocate to any African country of your choice than continue staying in northern Nigeria and be a pawn in the game of Fulanis with the rest of the country.

Enough said.

@ Crjane , I think every smart igbos should as a matter of urgency start leaving the north no matter how alluring or promising northern opprotunities are , I have enumerated steps igbos can use and evacuate from the north below

3 Months Emerency program to evacuate Igbos from the 12 Core Northern States

1.The first phase of Returnees and Evacuation of igbos pupils from all the public and private schools in all the 12 Core Northern states to private schools in the East.
This if implemented will see to the transfer of more than N60B Annually to the coffers of the privately owned schools in the east being the estimate of the school fees and other fees of the returnee pupils numbered at 6 Million and an average fees of N10,000
This will also create jobs for returnee igbos that will need more than 15,000 teachers to take care of the returnees.

2. Massive conversion of the Igbo country side to farmlands and agricultural settlements that will feed the teeming population of the returnees . My take is that every idle land should be converted to either a farmland or a fish pond and every land of more than 6 acres shoudl be converted to a composite farm that would house , animals like cows , goat , farm lands like maize and cassava farm , a poultry farm for chikens and turkey , the maize will be processed to feed the chikens while the manure from the chicken waste will feed the maize, cows and other animals can graze.

3. The second Phase of Returnees will include the secondary school students , corpers and university students in all the core northern universities who by now would have been more than prepared for eventualities, these will boost the university enrollment in the public and private universities in the east , the population of this category of migrants cannot be estimated due to its dynamic nature.

4. Due to the increase in the population of the east as a result of massive returnees, the east will need to do 2 things build massive accomodation to accomodate the returnees by investing substantial part of the budget in housing which will infact create jobs in that sector and also boost the economy , look to the private sector to solve housing and transportation issues which can more than be taken care by the transport companies in conjuction with the car manufacturing firms.

5.Creation of more opportunities through import substitution of any related items from the North with home grown alternatives through controlled farm lands where hundreds of acres can be made available for the production of Onions , tomatoes, green peas , hides and skin for Aba shoe industry , Meat and milk for the local consumption in the east e.t.c
I have estimated the amount of Money igbos spend on cows in the east at the rate of 2000 cows a day (N300000000) to be worth more tha N120B per annum this is more than the budget of some states in the East and can create a big industry that is bigger than the present poultry business in the east being that Hide And Skin will feed Aba, while the cow bones can be used to feed the Agro and Pharmaceutical industries in Onitsha and Aba , the Milk can be used to create a new industry in the east while the Meat can be processed for export and local consumption. This industry if encouraged and mordernised will engage more than 50000 returnees at an average salary of N50000 a month and generate tax and revenues of more than N12B per annum and will put the fulani herdsmen at bay

I agree men should stay back and defend their properties while they send back the women and children for safety.

They should seriously consider leaving the north in the long term.

Meanwhile fulanis in our land must leave. Both the herdsmen and tbose in oil companies . Our people should stop eating the cows used to damage peoples farms. Eat chicken and fish instead.

After all that had been said about northerners and their thirst for blood someone has the effrontery to build an edifice in the same zone?

My uncle sold his building in Kaduna and left the north for good in 2011. Today he lives happily in His home with no one threatening his life in obigbo.

Like someone said, any Igbo man living in the north actually went there for suicide mission.

Anyone who's wise enough shud start thinking home now. The bubble is about to burst.

No matter the level of frienship in the house never loose ur guard. Anybody can be ur enemy anytime.

Every Igboman that has a business or house in the north should have a back up shop and house in the capital city of his state.

My pity for the Igbos living in the north is their very poor tact and childish naivety. Many assume that because they speak Hausa, changed their children's names from Ngozi to Aisha and Yagazie to Yusuf, they have suddenly become Hausa/Fulani. They are totally mistaken.

Like everyone else has already said, those who can move out now like their wives and children should obey the Fulani youths ultimatum and leave now. They can always continue their education in the SE or SS. They can always rent a second shop and transfer the goods from the warehouses in Sabon Gari to the safety of their branch store in the SE managed by their wife.

The men can stay behind and defend their properties while manage the gradual sell off of their properties in Fulani land.
