The Acting President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has inaugurated the distribution of 30,000 metric tonnes of cereal to victims of Boko Haram insurgency in an event held in Maiduguri on Thursday. The distribution of the food items would be done quarterly to cover all states in the North-eastern part of the country; Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, Taraba, Bauchi and Gombe States. He said: “I am here to flag off what will be a quarterly food distribution to Internally Displayed Persons (IDPs). “By this, we are saying that our brothers and sisters in the North East our country does not take their suffering likely.” Before his arrival in Maiduguri, three Boko Haram bombers were killed in a failed attack and fifteen persons died in a shootout between Boko Haram gunmen and Nigerian military on the outskirts of the city. However, the distribution of the food items would be done by “the official of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA)”, and “International Humanitarian Agencies”, acting president Osinbajo said while addressing the crowd. He noted that “a voucher” would be used to distribute the food items from house to house (door to door method) to pevent long queues. “We are going to incorporate a voucher system which will make the distribution transparent and improve our data collection system,” he said. This man is really a kind of leader Nigeria truly deserves-focus,purposeful,determined, bridge-builder though he belong to the wrong political divide.Unlike Buhari that said he'll lead from the front but to became so scare of a Niger Delta scare that he can step a foot there. 1 Like |
