1. Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo yesterday signed into law the 2017 Appropriation Act into in the presence of the leadership of the National Assembly and other top government officials at the presidential Villa. The budget whose projected fiscal deficit would be chiefly financed by borrowing has revenue projection of N5.08tn and an aggregate expenditure of N7.44tn.

2. Following the raid of the head office of The Sun Newspaper in Lagos by the EFCC, the state chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), has given the Commission 72 hours to issue an apology to the newspaper or face a lawsuit. Chairman of the Lagos NUJ, Deji Elumoye, described the sealing off of the newspaper house as “barbaric.”

3. Popular lawyer and activist, Femi Falana , SAN, on Monday alleged that the All Progressives Congress (APC) was merely denying its electoral promises of restructuring the country, stating that the promise was on first page of its manifestoes ahead of the 2015 election. Falana spoke at the June 12 event organized by the APC led-government in Ondo State.
