An independent real estate company located in Lagos, Nigeria whose focus is on property development, management, marketing and sale of real estate products and services with special skills in facility maintenance and specializing in developing innovative and unparalleled luxury apartments, duplexes, detached homes and commercial outlets seeks to engage the services of Head Treasury.
Job Objectives:
The Corporate Treasurer shall be responsible for the following key areas in relation to the business model of LG:
• Assess, monitor, plan and manage the efficient utilization of cash in a manner consistent with the objectives of LG
• Liquidity planning and control
• Management of interest and currency risks
• Procurement of finance and financial investments
• Corporate finance
Core Responsibilities:
• Oversees the credit, investment and cash management functions including cash concentration
• Oversees cash management, banking and financial institution relationships, including negotiating bank fees and interest earnings
• Carries out the development and implementation of treasury functions, allocates cash balances, maintains investment records and prepares expense and earnings forecasts
• Performs financial analysis, modelling and assessments in support of corporate initiatives and decision making
• Ensures adequate liquidity to meet operational and capital investment requirements. Invest excess funds
• Performs daily review of treasury operations to ensure funds are flowing properly by maximizing corporate value and minimizing costs
• Ensures treasury activities are compliant with treasury policies, accounting guidelines, governance policies and internal controls
• Develops processes to improve efficiency and enhance controls
• Develops and monitors treasury operational policies
• Partners with various business units to identify, validate and forecast cash needs
• Ensures accurate and timely processing of wire transfers, process check disbursements, track cash balances, perform account reconciliations, bank adjustments, and wire transfer research
• Raises funds for new projects and identifies funding solutions to ensure the available of cheap funds when needed
• Provides data, information and tools to senior management to support optimal decision making and value creation
• Monitors external market conditions, determines how they may impact the business and plan accordingly
Qualifications & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics required.
• Master’s in Business Administration degree preferred.
• Professional qualification in Finance or Treasury
• Ten (10) or more years of experience in cash management, capital markets, and/or corporate finance in a corporate
• Five (5) to seven (7) years’ experience in treasury management, preferably in the real estate industry.
Required competencies:
• Knowledge of investment portfolio strategy, banking, and financial instruments
• General knowledge of GAAP and SEC reporting requirements for investments and other financial instruments
• Knowledge of treasury software expertise a plus
• Good with numbers and technically sound
• Advanced spreadsheet and modelling skills
• Problem solving, a big picture thinker
• Demonstrated strong project management skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Good thinking and planning skills
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills; be the main point of contact when talking to banks, credit agencies, investment analysts, consultants and regulators
• Ability to treat sensitive issues with respect and empathy, and maintain strict confidentiality where required
