A female staff of Micro Finance Bank, Olayiwola Folashade has been arrested and charged before a Lagos court for allegedly escaping with N1.3m savings paid into the Bank by some petty traders through her.
Thus, the customers besiege the Bank requesting for the money which led to the arrest of Folashade by the Police.
The incident happened at the Shepard Trust Micro Finance Bank branch at Ogba, Lagos where folashade was deployed as Staff.
She has been since arraigned in court for stealing and remanded in prison custody.
We gathered that the defendant was entrusted by the Bank management to collect money saving from their customers, mainly petty traders who save their money to access loan or repaying the soft loans they borrowed from the Bank
However, we learnt after the defendant collected the money to the amount, she did not remit it to the Bank and escaped with the money.
When it was time to obtain the loan, they were not given or allowed to withdrawing their saving.
We gathered that the Bank management told them that their savings did not reflect in the Bank account records despite the fact that customers actually paid the money through the defendant.
When the management asked Fashade what happened, it was learnt that she admitted the customers paid her the money and told the Bank that she used the money to solve her personal problem.
The matter was reported at Ogba Police Command and Folashade was arrested and charged before Ogba Magistrates court with stealing under the Criminal Code.
She pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mr. T.O. Shomade granted her bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The matter was adjourned till 28 July 2017.
She was remanded in prison custody pending when she will perfect her bail condition.
