IPOB Blasts Igbo Leaders' Meeting With Osibanjo, Says They're Jobbers by Youngadvocate(m): 6:41pm On Jun 15, 2017
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), today, Thursday, called trash, the meeting of supposed Igbo leaders of thought with the Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, stating that it is “‘a gathering as a few compromised political jobbers from core Igbo states of Biafraland,” “excluding the President of Ohaneze Ndi Igbo and two others.”

According to the IPOB, any meeting to be called by the government to settle the Biafra agitation must be one that is channeled to the Referendum on Biafra its Leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu proposed.

This was contained in a statement released by the Media and Publicity Secretary of IPOB, Emma Powerful,

The statement read that the meeting which had leaders sympathetic to the APC government is an insult on the sensibilities of Biafrans all over the world, especially the memory of the dead and injured.

The statement read in part: “This meeting we understand was convened at the instigation of the Nigerian Acting President Professor Yemi Osinbajo following the political fallout from the hugely successful IPOB sit-at-home order of 30th of May 2017”.

“With one or two exceptions and with the greatest respect to the attendees to this Nigeria sponsored gathering in Abuja, the so-called South-East delegation is in no way representative of the views of the leadership of IPOB worldwide, neither can they claim with any degree of sincerity to be speaking for the masses”.

“Therefore all Osinbajo has succeeded in achieving with this meeting is to waste scarce resources that could have been channelled towards more useful purposes. None of those that attended this meeting with Osinbajo gave the order for people to sit-at-home on May 30th. So we are at a loss to understand the justification for their invitation to the meeting to discuss something they know nothing about”.

“In this regard, we wish to inform the government of Nigeria that the gathering and deliberations they thought they had yesterday is a complete waste of time and will continue to be until the Federal Government does the needful. We note and respect the presence of Chief Nnia Nwodo the Ohaneze Leader and two others at that very meeting, however the rest are nothing to write home about”.

“We do not think that presiding over the distribution of monthly allocation from Abuja qualifies any political office holder to discuss issues pertaining to IPOB and Biafra restoration when the leadership can be directly contacted”.

“Since August 2015 that Nigerian Government and her security operatives, especially the Army, Navy, DSS and Police, have been killing and abducting innocent and peaceful IPOB members, none of the governors that attended this meeting in Abuja rose to condemn the brutal and barbaric repression of IPOB peaceful agitation for a independent homeland for Biafrans”.

“None of them offered any comment in condemnation of the well documented atrocities despite the existence of overwhelming evidence to substantiate the facts alluded to in the widely received Amnesty Report on the senseless slaughter of IPOB members. How can such persons now go to Abuja to discuss issues bothering on the activities of IPOB when they know nothing about the modus operandi of the organisation. Only IPOB can and will discuss issues pertaining to her activities, not compromised politicians”.

“From time, we firmly resolved that nobody among the governors or politicians can set an agenda for IPOB except our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. The sooner Nigerian Government understands this, the better. Therefore, any meeting without the consent of our leader or those nominated by him in a representative capacity, is a complete waste and unacceptable to IPOB” powerful stated,” it said.

They made a simple statement. Jow can Governors that kept quiet seeing their subjects murdered here and there now go to Abj to represent them. What exactly are they going to say ? That they feel our pains or that they enjoy the status quo ? Moreover non of them commanded the sit at home that is peppering Nigerians to their bone marrow.

Now imagine, after all the consultation with Northern and Eastern elders and politicians, no solution for way forward is being discussed. All we here is normal threatening of apprehending people who make hate speeches and all that. In other words, there is no need and time to treat the core issue, all they want is to have Igbos accept the present condition, close our lower lip with our upper lip, have Abokis messing around all in the name of one nation, accept the present evil status quo that will rather perish than see developments in the East.

Why not discuss the main point of agitation than just asking people to promote one Nigeria with just mere words. One Nigeria based on a particular regions terms of oneness, is that the one Nugeria they wish us to have ?

When they need one Nigeria truely, they will come to terms to accept they need to make compromises.

Good one from IPOB.

They proposed consultation and they are not meeting the people who will tell them the way it is in their minds, rather meeting those whom care less about the public and have eyes on money that will be shared

Nonsense.

Let us keep moving round and round the circle avoiding to tell ourselves the truth to way forward.

Calling for Referendum is in no way calling for war but one must not rule out the possibility of war as people we are dealing with don't seem to be civilised and of present world.

I was a staunch supporter of this movement but recently I have seen some dubious moves from these ipob members. If you go to the page, all you see are heaps of insults on anything that doesn't sound fanatical and crazy. Many of these guys are always ready to curse your family because of your own idea.

The country was fairly stable before these guys came to be, at least the only noise emanating from this country was from the northeast and south south.

Now they have created discomfort on Igbo's in the north. Everyone is wary of the northerners close to him. Making so much noise and cursing people will not bring Biafra but create enemity with our neighbors.

I was having a conversation with an educated northerner on Monday, he said without mincing words that the igbos just buried their political power by showing others that if given power at the center, they are going to break the fragile wall in the country. He further went on to say, "No more trust from your tribe".

IPOB do not have guns, all fighter jets are in Kaduna, naval base is not in the east. if you start a war, you all will be slaughtered because even if our brothers will aids, it will be blocked again.

You don't need to burn the whole house because you are leaving.

If IPOB wants to have dialogue with Acting President, they should go through the right channel by writing all Igbo groups about the supposed meeting which in return they will have an agreement with FG on the proposed fixed date.

They can't be wailing and at same time expect Acting President to have a dialogue with them via an illegal way.

Perhaps only IPOB wings want to see acting president abi wetin sef?

Referendum should be done peacefully just like the way Benin republic and Cameroon (for example) did theirs yet they enjoy good relationship with Nigeria.

Agreed one day biafra would be achieved but if the current tongue lash from them continues after they must have seek a separate country, please who will be their trade partner? The very people they insulted will be their saving grace as their business patronage may drop sporadically due to their arrogant attitude.

Also like you mentioned without mincing words, this is their best shot to have a formidable presidential candidate for the next coming election but the chances are so slim owing to recent corrosive words from them. Anyway they don't care about the country anymore (I mean Igbos).

Biafra referendum is the only language we understand

Till then, every other discussion with political criminals and elders of iniquities remains a sham.

The very educated ones might not want to go with us. Reasons been that they have not communicated the economic blueprint the new country will follow to survive the first 10years. This IPOB is gradually becoming a mixture of ethnic and religious fanatism. Igbos do not bend for no man but seeing them raising a man above God is something I cannot open my eyes and follow.

We do not want the UN or any organization in the southeast because they are not speaking the minds of intellectual Igbo's. You cannot convince me without either cursing me or threatening me. Some say it is heaven on earth. A country of which you have not even generated up to 100billion naira is heaven on earth? How do you take care of over 15million Igbo's who will their jobs, houses, businesses, schools and handwork to come to the east? How do you plan to keep a man idle who is used to seeing 1million naira weekly.

The infighting will be too much and the competition will be too aggressive to be healthy. Without any feasible economic plan, we do not want Biafra.

No, no one has elevated Nnamdi Kanu above God, rather we acknowledge him for being brave enough to do what hypocrites like you won't ever dream of doing.

Did you observe the sports federation election that they just conducted ? Where on earth do they disqualify candidates on the election day morning without prior notice ?

You don't need Biafra but you can't do anything about your situation in Nigeria. Why don't you join IPOB and bring in the knowledge you think they need rather than saying rubbish about people's effort and struggle.

Btw, you can always remain a Nigeria after Easter secession and can even show your loyalty to them by converting to Islam. I guarantee you that they will spare you. Thank me for this info.

Alright, you've won. I'll wait to hear the outcome of the meeting including the one that will hold tomorrow but all i'v been hearing ever after the meeting yterday is "preach one Nigeria" " stop hate speech". Nobody has ever raised one's hope with a statement like " all will be pleased hence forth with discussions on ground" and so on.

I do not really understand why people of this age and time will stop being practical and logical in their thinking. You should learn to at least debate constructively with people sitting on the fence rather than insulting them. They may not know what will befall them until they try referendum and see many diasporan igbos coming enmasse to vote to stay in Nigeria.

These guys are very funny, they want osinbajo to skip elders to talk to a man who doesnt hold any cultural or political title to his name? In igbo cultural setting, do you think it right to consult such a person?
I am all for Biafra, especially an exclusive Igbo country, but not Nnamdi Kanu's Biafra. Go to their Facebook page and see the way they rain down insults on any contrary position. The fanaticism is extreme. The only best option is for intellectuals to take over from them now, else.....
