Barely 3 days after the Federal Government of Nigeria reopened the application portal for N-Power scheme, a job creation and Social Investment Programme, a total of 240,000 unemployed Nigerians have so far applied for the scheme. As at 9am on Friday, a total of 240,393 have applied for the programme. N-Power scheme is an initiative of the Federal Government, designed to help young Nigerians acquire and develop lifelong skills to become solution providers in their communities and to become players in the domestic and global markets. According to a breakdown of the pattern of application on the site, teaching profession has the highest number of applications with 155,819 applicants. Agriculture has 40,204 applicants while health extension advisers’ applicants were 25,670. A total of 18,700 applied to work as community tax liaison officers. The federal government is engaging 300,000 unemployed Nigerian youths as teachers, agriculture extension advisers, health extension workers and community tax liaison officer under the scheme. The scheme has already engaged 200,000 Nigerians as volunteers. uolamide:This your statement isn't fair.  well it's a statement of a typical Nigerian. But as for me they should chill because there are much more that are yet to apply, instead of closing they should make an increase in the resources budgeted for and therefore increase in the number allowed this year. If this the only thing this present government can give to us as youths before they leave then I suggest they do it well. |
