Edo rerun: Oshiomhole crushes Anenih again

Oshiomhole The political grip of the Chairman of Nigeria Ports Authority, Chief Tony Anenih on Edo State politics has again been severred with yesterday’s defeat of his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP at the Etsako Central Constituency re-run election . The party of the Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole’s Action Congress, AC won the election.

Observers say the election stands in recent history as the first peaceful election to be conducted where no single gun shot was fired either from the police or from hired thugs.

The defeat suffered by PDP was also the last hold of former deputy governor of the state, Chief Mike Ogiadomhe on Etsako Central Local Government Area of the state as he was defeated in his ward.

After collating the results, the AC won in eight wards while the PDP won in two wards.

The AC won in ward 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 where it had 624, 915, 498, 1024, 743, 2076, 566 and 497 votes respectively while the PDP had 443, 466, 326, 291, 75, 402, 242 and 268 votes respectively. The Edo State Commissioner for Information, Mr Abdul Oroh told The Nation on phone that the election was very peaceful. He said the AC govenrment was committed to the philosophy of ‘one man one vote’ as agains the bizzare tradition of rigging and declaration of phontom results.’Nigeria will change for the better if we allow the people to chose their leaders in a free and fair election’ he said.

The two wards won by PDP were ward 4 and 5 where it scored 762 and 336 respectively as against the AC which had 677 and 265 votes.

Declaring the AC candidate winner, the Electoral Officer stated: "This is an election keenly contested by three candidates. 29,971 were the total number of registered voters in Etsako central local government. The AC scored 7,884, ANPP scored 1 votes, DPP 6 while the PDP scored 3,712 votes. The number of rejected votes were 2146 while 13,337 were the total votes cast in this election."

"In my capacity as the constituency returning officer in Etsako Central Local government, I, Glenn Ukomadu hereby certified I was the returning officer of the re-run election held in Etsako central constituency. The election was contested and the candidate had the following votes, Oghuma Johnson scored 7, 884, Chris Umogbai scored 3, 712 votes. Oghuma Johnson is hereby declared the winner of the election signed this day".

Three fake INEC officials, one of them a staff of Edo State Ministry of Agriculture in charge of Fadama project in Akoko-Edo were arrested in ward 8 with the sum of N500,000 found on them.

They gave their names as Anslem Longe, Akande Francis and Solomon Evbogbai.

Solomon Evbobgbai is a staff of National Youth Servie Corps. The AC candidate, Johnson Oghuma promised to work for the development of his constituency.

Yes,Comrade Oshiomole knows the work at hand.Firstly is to free the people of Edo state from the grand political cabals of PDP,then can the dividends of democracy be freely available to the people of Edo state.
Oshiomole have within one year in office awarded road projects across the 18 local government of the state

Apart from the fake INEC staff, Fake presiding officers name were discovered by AC agents at Fugar. The names of ward 5 units; 1, 4, 5 & 6 were discovered to be fake. Ward 8 units 1-5 were left blank. This discovery was made in the presence of PDP state Secretary; Nosa Adams who still insisted on them being used. However, the INEC staff on ground was used to replace these people. An attempt was made to snatch a ballot box at Ogbona. This attempt was foiled by the youths. The attempt was led by an ex deputy governor and a top member of the legislative arm.

On what capacity where you there? An election supervisor, AC supporter, or political thug?
Be more civil, and be modest in victory and look towards the work ahead. Success at the polls is not an opportunity to gloat and rub it into the wounds of your opponents but a call to service; to serve the people who took time out to support and vote you in.

@ I was there as an election supervisor duly chosen by an NGO. U are missing the point. Its not "gloating" per se as u think but the joy that from now, people can select their own representatives and no longer have candidates forced down their throats!
I think the comrade governor knows the expectations of people from him so lets support him in whatever we can.

Election supervisors are supposed to be unbiased and apolitical. This much cannot be said from your previous posts.

There is nothing wrong telling the Comrade Governor to work.Knowing fully well he have hired all the PDP mechineries as decampees to AC.The same people who bring the state to her present sorry state are the same people parading themselves as the messiahs of Edo state.
