SUNDAY, JUNE 18, 2017 (FATHERS’ DAY)
HOUSE OR HOME?
READ GENESIS 18:17-19
MEMORISE: For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the LORD, to do righteousness and justice, that the LORD may bring to Abraham what He has spoken to him. (Genesis 18:19)

When priorities are misplaced, disorderliness results. Do we have homes or houses? The latter (house) seems to have taken and even overtaken the place of the former (home). House refers to all landed properties, structures and estates. Expectedly, a lot is spent on these, both in erecting the structures and maintaining them. The home, on the other hand, refers to the man, his wife with, or without children.
Unfortunately, many parents/guardians have surrendered their God-given responsibilities at home to the school. The school can do just but little, whereas, a lot is expected to be done at home. Many have failed to get it right from home. No wonder we are fast losing the battle. Consider the myriads of problems—terrorism, armed robbery, killing, maiming, kidnapping, rape and other heinous crime cases and around us today. The perpetrators come from some homes. Sometimes, from broken home and careless parents. God trusted Abraham to raise a godly and an obedient lineage, and he did (Gen 18:17-18). Can that be said of you?
Until we seriously restructure our homes in line with God’s standard, the result will always be unpalatable. Train up a child rightly and you save the family, society, the Church and nation from uncertainties (Prov 22:6). Remember: A child who is not well trained, will eventually sell off the well-built mansions! Do your best now on your home, and leave the rest to God, as He helps you.

PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, make my home a Christian home.
2. Lord, prepare me for the eternal home with You.
3. Lord, please help the leaders of churches and nation to value human capacity development than building gigantic structures.
