Yoruba Don’t Need To Meet Osinbajo To Discuss Nigeria’s Unity – Afenifere by seunlly(m): 7:39pm On Jun 21, 2017 |
A Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere Renewal Group, has stated that the South-Westdoes not need a consultative meeting with Acting President Yemi Osinbajo to discuss Nigeria’s unityas being demanded by some people. In a statement on Wednesday by the group’s Publicity Secretary, Mr. Kunle Famoriyo, ARG urgedthe South-West governors to discharge their responsibilities by constantly taking in the changingpolitical dynamics of the nation for their decisions and acts to cater to the welfare, wellbeing, andsecurity of people in their domains.According to him, “Yoruba people are never the agitators and our aspirations have never lackedclarity since (the) late Chief Obafemi Awolwo published ‘Path to Nigerian Freedom’ in 1947.“Before now, government would play the ostrich until the rising temperature hit the roof and thendeploy armed forces. We note however the Acting President’s statement that “We have all agreedthat Nigeria should remain one” and we recall the late Chief Bola Ige who noted that “there aretwo basic questions that must be answered by all Nigerians. One, do we want to remain as onecountry? Two, if the answer is yes, under what conditions?“Where the task of building a sustainable nationhood begins is the second question, which hasremained unaddressed for the past five decades. Answering this question bothers on reaching aconsensus about a constitution that will guarantee the inalienable rights of social justice and politicalfreedom for every Nigerian, irrespective of ethnic or religious inclination.” http://mloaded.com.ng/2017/06/21/yoruba-dont-need-meet-osinbajo-discuss-nigerias-unity-afenifere/ |

The confab report should be revisited. It may not contain all the answers to Nigeria's problems, but its implementation would be a step towards the right direction. 8 Likes |

We keep repeating the same thing since 1960. As expected we always approach Nigeria problem politically yet no political action has been taken. The core issues to make Nigeria one is never discussed appropriately. We behave like there is no solution to Nigeria problem. And I ask how did other countries made it? 3 Likes 1 Share |
