The word "am sorry" is so underrated, so many
friendship, families, relationships, businesses, marriages etc will still be intact if one party had said am sorry. Saying am sorry does not mean weakness, it will not stop you from being the head of the family or the madam of the house, it means that you value him or her and you don't want that small misunderstanding to come between the two of you.
Say "am sorry" then the two of you can later deliberate on what caused the problem. So, swallow that pride, say am sorry and move on even when you are right before it becomes too late to amend things. Thanks.

People should ONLY say sorry if they mean it, and are ready/willing to repent. There is absolutely NO point in saying that you are sorry if you ain't.
