The Chairman of Northern Elders Council, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai, has warned Igbo people not to allow someone who was not born during the civil war to incite violence in the country.

He described the ongoing calls for separation as a mistake that will affect the Igbos most if Nigeria splits, adding that Nigeria’s market of over 180 million people will be lost.

Yakassai blamed the Federal Government for not tackling the threats by the IPOB on time, pointing that it led to the present crisis.

According to Information given, “I believe that the Federal Government was somewhat late in addressing the threats issued by the Igbo.

“These threats by both the North and South are unconstitutional and illegal because every Nigerian has the right to live and work in any part of the country he or she chooses.

“I think the Igbo should not allow a man, who was not even born during the civil war to incite violence in the country.

“Both the Hausa and the Igbo are well travelled traders and if this country splits today, that opportunity is gone, a market of 180 million people.

“All the regions will suffer for it.”

Before Alamgamation,
Nigerians were living
They did not eat sand and beg for food.
Marriage is not by force.
Anybody that wants to go should be given referendums.

This is 2017, people should stop singing "war" as if that is the only way people separate.

When is a call for a peaceful referendum is a call for war?

The only people chanting war everyday is from the North.

Igbos are only asking for a referendum.

Arrant nonsense...Nnamdi Kanu was born in 1969. He is 49 yrs old. His birth certificate says CITIZEN OF BIAFRA, as with those born between 1967-70. Get your facts right. Nnamdi Kanu might look younger but not a small boy. He is 7 yrs older than Dino Maleye

Why are these old fools talking craps out of their anuses? When people have decided to secede from a country, it has never been interpreted as act of war or violence except in dumbass Nigeria. It is very funny that people outside the continent Africa look disdainfully on these folks yet the demeanor from Nigerians tends to support unprintable names given to Africans. Ethnic nationalities in Nigeria were not born of the same mother and father therefore cannot be forced to form a country. Nigerians pretend to have unity when such display is a shameful insincerity.
