There is no doubt that President Buhari is still loved and supported by many despite his dwindling political fortune and there are three classes of such persons for different reasons.
1. BUHARISTS: these are people who genuinely love this country and believe there must be a change for the better. They saw PMB as an agent of change based on the wide media campaign depicting him as an honest and a no-nonsense leader so they queue behind him to deliver. Unfortunately, many in this category are changing camp and singing different tunes due to dismal performance as expectation does not meet reality.
2. BUHARIDEEN: these are people whose support for PMB is total, uncompromising and wholly based on shared Faith and not on performance. They see him as being their own even though they may not benefit directly or indirectly from his tenure. To them, PMB is the champion and epitome of their faith and must not be demeaned or disgraced out of office. They are willing to sacrifice anything to see him complete his tenure and will always wish the second term for him. Expectedly he has huge followership in this category across north and southwest.
3. APC: these are politicians whose support for PMB is solely on what they can get from the system and not on performance as well. To this category of persons, it is self-interest first and followed by party benefits. They will eulogize his government to high heavens though many things around say otherwise. To them, self-preservation and not service is the first law of politics. This category is making appreciable inroads as many opposition party members are cross-carpeting to APC
This is the complete analysis of today’s political architecture with respect to PMB’s support. Ironically, the support spectrum is not bounded and could spread beyond a category.
