Still wrong

If you know anything about engines and rattling sounds you will get why I included a replacement engine.

As I said earlier, that an engine runs, it does not mean it is sound.

Here is a question for all.
Do you think the previous owner would have sold car as scrap or insurance company would accept it and give owner claim then auction off as scrap or at salvage value if a proper repair would cost less than $200?

Also he hasn't told us the first procedure and cost which was done to make the car start and move while engine was rattling. I think he needs to state that as well so we really know all that's happened to the vehicle.

Or mechanics in the US don't know how to change fuel pump and do general service as stated by Airex?

@Nelson you are an IT expert not a car repair expert ....it's either airex had not mentioned this issue at all...or he comes up with every fact he has ...before u commented im sure u saw the views this particular thread is gathering just because of this standoff...this are all potential customers..Gazzuz has explained in details ...all airex has done is throw accusations ..it is now a serious issue because someone's reputation is at stake ...as gazzuz said this cars engine had already been tampered with even before it was brought to his workshop..@airex u really need to come here and explain all facts from the beginning or else u swallow ur pride and apologise to gazzuz...people sue people for defamation of character I hope u know..

I am not in support of anyone here but in a court In a court of law it's facts that determine a case not emotions......I rest my case

Airex please confirm these statements:

1. Your car engine was rattling when it was assessed.
Technician said rattling, suggestive of mechanical failure was the reason why he recommended engine replacement.

2. After replacement of your fuel pump, and general service, the engine rattle disappeared.
I made this assumption since you said the issue was resolved.

Just to be sure of the facts ooo.

Airex Are you a car dealer?

Aired have you sold this car to an unsuspecting individual?

The people who hate Gazzuzz most on NL are fraudulent car dealers.

The people who will swear by their mothers, that a car is in perfect condition when it is not are fraudulent car dealers.

The people who are happy about the repair work on the Highlander and are thinking of bringing cars in worse off conditions for repairs are........

You are yet to speak, but your silence speaks volumes.

Airex what is a general service?

Airex are you a car dealer?

Bros, did I miss out on something here? Can't remember seeing anywhere the guy stated that he imported it as scrap, or is it the "non-starter" state it came in as that made u assume it's scrap? I'm asking this cos if that's the case then I must say you got it wrong, I've witnesses multiple cases where non-starter cars imported got up and running as a result of change of minor things like the fuel pump he mentioned

And as regards the "General service" tag, don't you know that's what majority of mechanics just tell customers so they won't actually know exactly what it was that was worked on, to enable them charge well. Most hardly give you details like telling you they cleaned the nozzles with carb cleaner for eg, cos you'll want to pay little, they'll tell you "oga , we service the engine"

You see, this is why I warned airex to be careful how he states his case here cos it s just like playing against barca at the nou camp,

For all of you saying he should state his case and he's done so, the defence builds his case on "rattling sound, direct connection" and a long list of other items, and you're asking airex to come and give "more explanations", Abeg which other explanations are you expecting, or is it cos you all know that when it comes to knowing cars systems and make up, gazzuzz will always have the upper hand

And you want him to come and attempt to take on him and be disgraced, bottom line is he took the car to get solutions and wasn't satisfied with what he got and he took it elsewhere and got the problem resolved to his satisfaction

Does that warrant him coming here to call someone "blockhead", definitely NO, is that enough reason to attempt to go on a smear campaign, also No and definitely uncalled for

But for all of you calling him out for wanting a cheap fix for his car, as you all are dangote, let him be managing his life like that, his main argument is that he was asked to pay over 600k for something he got done for below 50k, it's all about the money, else why will some one even import a non-starter car in the first place. If I have a nail puncture my tyre and I know I can't afford to replace it asap and I see the patch and can be fixed, and I take it to a vulcaniser to get it patched so I can drive home first and replace later, and the vulcaniser tell me he won't patch and only recommends a new tyre and I go down and get it done at the next vulvanizer and go home, where's the crime in that?

If my laptop gets faulty for eg, and I take it to fix, mostly I pay the engineer to fix it and whatever English he speaks as the issue with the laptop can't be verified by me as I know little of the components of a laptop, so you don't expect me to come home and give you details of what the laptop engineer did, bottom line is: he fixed the laptop, case closed, for those of you who think cos you're in car industry you know things and everyone else who can't explain his car in details is a fool, then keep it up, tnx

Someone who can afford to import a Lexus Rx350 is not managing his life; if he can't do proper repairs, he's living a fake life.
First he repaired the no-start condition car to start working, but it wasn't working properly, then he wanted to make it work properly and it was recommended that he should do what he should have done before the first repair was carried out- which is to change engine.

I'm pretty sure the total amount he spent on that car would exceed a third of what replacing the engine will cost and he can't get as much a third of the life span of a good replacement tokunboh engine.

Your analogy of tyres is a different case because cars are expected to have a spare at all times to help easily replace, but no car carries a spare engine around.
The hard drive of a laptop can be interchanged under 30 minutes to retrieve data incase of a fault, but if a car engine fails in the middle of nowhere you first have to tow aside the danger you are exposed to.

I agree with you on the part about how much he spent on the car, I also believe the 50k is a very big exaggeration to score cheap points too, definitely spent more than that.

But as regards engine longevity?? Bros leave that story, no one can tell how long an engine can last, there's a lot of contributing factors. Besides, everyone is not a collector or car enthusiast, what you call a not-so-smooth performing engine is what someone else might drive comfortably for the next five years, so long as it gets him from point A to B.

We buy cars to serve us and not the other way round, so long as the car is giving him what he needs for now,let him be, that excess cash if invested in biz can generate multiple income even before the engine eventually gives in, when it does, my opinion

Modified: as I saw you've modified your post in which I quoted, I'll modify mine accordingly

I used the laptop case as an eg to illustrate the fact that not everyone is a car guru who knows every detail of their car, just as I don't know what a laptop interior even looks like. All I need to hear from my laptop engineer is that he'll fix my issue and when its done I keep using my laptop, many peeps are like that with cars too

The tyre analogy too was used to demonstrate that it's all about choice when it comes to these things, you can either decide to patch or replace, your choice, if a vulcaniser gives me the impression the only thing to be done is buy new tyres, I have the choice of dumping him for someone who'll do my patch and I move on

Hope u get my point now, tnx

What are you saying? Did gazzuz at anytime tell u he collected money or asked for a deposit..did u not read where he told u told he gave a long term solution not a temporary one. Note the following
* car was imported in a non start condition
* cars engine had already been opened n obviously worked on before it could be driven in a rattling condition to gazzuz .

I have faced which such decision bro of having to change a broken piston in my engine ...which would have lasted mayb a year or more and buying a new engine ....I chose the latter even if it was more expensive...I am not regretting that decision today and it been 3yrs now....@airex gazzuz made his judgement as a professional it was a choice for u to agree or go for a cheaper option ...it does not warrant u coming here to tarnish his image...trust me any competent mechanic even after fixing and servicing the car would still tell u that the engine should still be changed...I'm a proffesional at what I do so I stand with gazzuz on this one .....Note that this is not a case of fraud but a case of Making the best choice

Now I'm relieved, there are actually NLers who are devoid of emotion and see this thing exactly the way it is: choice

Only sad thing is that after making the choice to go for a cheaper fix, calling someone a blockhead is what I no longer understand

Except of course he's saying gazzuzz didn't give him the option of the cheaper fix or he didn't want to do the cheaper fix for him. In that case, it's still gazzuzz's choice not to go that route, still don't see how that makes him a blockhead

Tnx

He bought new engine and transmission! Look here for confirmation: https://www.nairaland.com/3864550/vehicle-2009-honda-accord-ex-l
This shows he is practicing what he preaches without sentiments.

The cars are undoubtedly reliable, no need for any doubts, as for mechanics, if you're residing in one of the major cities, you're safe, but if you reside in states like yobe, zamfara....... angry

Gazuzz and airex. I want to believe you both are intelligent gentlemen. Dont listen to all these people instigating you both to wash your linen in public to their amusement. Gazuzz Even jesus christ himself could not please everybody when he was on earth so dont even attempt to. Just continue doing your best. Airex u have made your point, Which is that you were an unsatisfied customer.
Gazuzz from the way you always handle issues here with maturity i just expected you just find a way to let sleeping dogs lie.
