MrHowto:
Some southern state that are not more than Zaria local government of Kaduna state in both size and population deserve no additional statw.

Even the present Bayelsa state should be merged to Rivers State.
Calling on state that can be economy viable , you are calling bayelsa. You well so.?

Instead of cutting the costs of governance, we should create more states, even when some states are not worth being a state! All for some people's selfish interest.

The recommendation of more states is a very useless idea. How many of the present states are self reliant?

Is it not funny when you further divide a parasitic state into 2. Are you not merely creating an extra parasitic state?

If truly we are keen on restructuring the nation, the 6. Zones should be the federating units and let each Region creates as many states as they accommodate and fund within them.

Laughable recommendations if true. This will create more politicians, bring high cost of governance, unnecessary waste of resources. That's why am an advocate of restructuring to not more than 6-14 states or regions that will be autonomous. That conference was a waste of money without structural, political and fiscal restructuring.
Nonsense recommendations

My impression is that the Hausa and Fulani elites do not want restructuring in any form, they prefer the current system as it. Why? What's the reason for this unwillingness?

Ah.... And here we thought they would create Lagoon state from Lagos with my home town, Epe as capital., ..

And l was wondering how possible that would be considering Lagos is the smallest state of the federation..

A lot of states are not viable. Many of them rely on federal allocation. Once federal allocation dwindle, they cannot pay salaries of civil servant and we are here talking of creating more states when the present ones are insolvent.
but the fg itself is not viable, once crude oil loses value we'd be in hot oil soup

If this was really part of the confab report, then the report should be thrown into the nearest dustbin. Absolute nonsense! Imagine a report creating more states to the north despite already having 19 states with many unviable ones. Edo state and Delta state combined is beginner than the whole south east but the report created just one state while creating more states in the south east. Same thing was done to pacify the south west. Everybody is looking for a different method to keep parasiting Niger delta. We dont want restructuring. What we want is true federalism which is: let every region manage their resources and pay tax to the federal govt. By doing so,even if the south west decides to create another states from Ekiti or Osun,it is their business. In fact all the copies of the report should be burnt. stand for true federalism!!!

You know political and economic restructuring is a demon the NW has been running away from for a long time.

I doubt whether you can run a way for long again.

You guys should wake up and smell the coffee. Restructuring is at your doorstep and there is nothing you can do about it.

Most foolish conference ever where money was looted for nonsensical confab. It is either we return back to 1960 arrangement which the greedy igbos disrupt or forget about restructuring. No state will be added.

We left regionalism because the minority groups felt marginalised under it. The states are meant to address the cries of margins.isation from minority groups.

The Confab was just to oil hands for Jonathan's 2015 failed presidential ambition. It's better we remain 36 States and federal power reduced as well as it's funding. Local governments should be given autonomy.

Foolish recommendation. You are suggesting merging states that are unviable yet you are also recommending creating more states from existing states that are already unviable. No serious thought went into the so-called confab. Waste of public funds.
