Alvaro Morata: The castilla graduate was given his senior debut by the "self acclaimed" special one. Morata looked like the next big centre forward to emanate from the castilla after the legendary Raul Gonzalez Blanco. Playing second fiddle to Karim Benzema, opportunities hardly came by and subsequently dried up with the emergence of Jese Rodriguez.
He search for greener pastures landed him in Turin. At Juventus, it was even more difficult to get more playing time because the striking duo of Carlos Tevez and Mario Mandzukic were scoring goals for fun. He only started matches when either of the duo were injured, suspended, rested or in the less fancied cup games.
Morata's sojourn to Turin didn't culminate in his leading the line for the Old Lady. He's now 24 and has never been the main striker for the two clubs he has played for. His game to goal ratio was bettered by only the mercurial petite Argentine "Lionel Messi". Can he replicate that form in a league he has never played in? Will he cope with the pressure of shouldering the goalscoring burden of a club as big as Manchester United?
£78million looks a ridiculous sum for a striker who hasn't been the main striker in his career yet, shouldn't Jose rather sign an Aubameyang who trumped Lewandoski to last season's bundesliga golden boot or a Harry Kane who has scored 20+ goals in each of his last three seasons in the EPL?
Ivan Perisic: After his move to Inter Milan, the Croat was expected to take his career to the next level. Series of average performances and Inter's board constant change of coach hasn't helped his career. His contributions in goals and assists as an attacker is below par and i wonder why he's a transfer target for a club like Manchester united who buys the best in every position. The Croat's favourite right wing position is currently stocked and bar Lingard he is no better than the other footballers trying to make the No.7 position theirs. £45million for a footballer whose most memorable moment was a winning goal against Spain in last year's Euros will be a bad piece of business. If Mourinho is hell bent on signing an inter Milan player it should be Mauro Icardo not Perisic.
Nemanja Magic: The story of Chelsea's 2014/2015 title winning season cannot be complete without Maticc getting a mention. He easily bullied opposing players and won the ball on several occasions with consummate ease. Chelsea conceded a paltry 18 goals (the last three coming in the last away game against West Brom) such was Matic's efficiency in shielding the back four.
Fast forward to last season, Matic looked a different player, most times he looked like a Pedestrian lost in heavy traffic and one needed to take head count of Chelsea players to ascertain if the team is not a man down. Little wonder Chelsea fans were at some point constantly chastising Conte for continuously starting the Serbian instead of the more mobile and creative Fabregas. Chelsea/fans will be the happier party if the deal pulls through, Man Utd may be the most valuable club in the world but they can't afford such sluggishness when other all action defensive midfielders are littered all other Europe.
