Miss Virginia Caressa Cameron won the 2010 Miss America title Saturday night after strutting in a skintight yellow dress, belting Beyonce's "Listen" from "Dreamgirls" and telling kids they should get outside more often.

Cameron, a 22-year-old from Fredericksburg, Va., won a $50,000 scholarship and the crown in Las Vegas after a pageant that started with 53 contestants. She outlasted her opponents in swimsuit, evening gown, talent and interview competitions.

Cameron is broadcast journalism student at Virginia Commonwealth University, and wants to become an anchor

it was sooooooo boring! i watched it live last night.
was happy she won though, she was like the best among them all.

She quite looks generic though beautywise- lots of black girls look like her in the tristate area

I personally think she sucked.

Her singing was awful, and whats up with all of them singing

I perfered ms louisiana, I was cheering for her, she blew me away onthat piano  smiley


I dont think I will be watching next years pagent. .
This year was by a mistake, my sister was flipping channels
But this year, it seemed such a classless event
and wack a** judges.
It didnt have that reverence that it had before, it seemed more like I was watching American Idol. undecided undecided

they tend to always have the same look- especially the black ones. Not saying she's not pretty however- she just looks like the Texas one from two years or so ago.





Hope they give her a safe gown at the Ms universe pageant. Not those frilly things that keep getting caught in the stillettos.

she does look rather generic - what we have classified the typical pretty AA girl to look like. lol very boring.
but then the same goes with most white american girls that have won in previous yrs.

otherwise, i think the whole miss america thing is a sham in terms of objectivity. yea i know this isn't new.
I mean how strategic that they picked this year for a black american to win.

some latina consider themselves black. esp. if they are dark skinned etc I mean a lot of ppl will put themselves in categories they feel will give them the better advantage. maybe the same lady that considers herself black for a film role will still be turning up her nose at other black women she sees in the street claiming she is latina. etc

all the girls were whack though, i changed it halfway through and put it back at the end.
most of them were so awful to watch.

Kai is that her with braces? Man fugly, she looks like a teenager. Anyhoo she is definitely not latino. Most dark latinos are from the Dominican republic or puerto rico or brazil or sometimes rarely from mexico.  They also look quite exotic. Just like the actress of Avatar Zoe:

She doesn't have that look- she looks very much like a typical African-American girl (probably half or a quarter white). Seen so many girls that look like her from Virginia (Makes sense anyways). I would like to see how she looks without makeup though.  Thats why I love college, you can tell the really beautiful girls from the fakes, because college girls don't have time to put paint on their face.

ohh ok there are two different pagents? It seemed like this was a parody of the former Miss USA  pagents that I have been watching since I was young  undecided a true dissapointment, rather be sleeping.

And both of my sisters held their ears when Cameron was singing, i think she got a vocal trainer just before the pagent, because that was no real talent   lipsrsealed lipsrsealed lipsrsealed lipsrsealed


u cant compare that to Miss Louisiana's phenomenal piano playing.

i didn't even watch all the talents. lol
but i did see her sing "Listen" by Beyonce.
she was okay to me.
Miss America is usually for the younger ladies and i don't think they do much.
Miss USA is the one that goes to Miss World, Miss Universe and all those international pageants.
Miss America is just for, idk.

How can a local beauty pageant make the front page, what's news about this.
So next we see Miss England, Miss Germany, Miss France, China nko?

At best this topic belongs in the health and beauty section frequented by Nairaland's teenagers. The quality of Nairaland must not be allowed to diminish any further.
The cream of Nigerian society frequents here so please keep beauty tips in beauty section.
