Everything fell apart after 1960 when a once peaceful country was handed over to black people, the ethnic killings masive corruption military coup civil war all within 7 years of independence and it's been downhill ever since. The British should have stayed longer.

But the thing even looks better than the current, uninspiring, unimaginative, unattractive green and white flag

Recently Nigerian flag was voted the worst flag among committee of nations

Just compare with Biafra so fine. If Biafra is achieved, its flag will be one of the finest brand in the world of flags. Something designed 50yrs ago still looking modern and catchy. If you like this flag click like

Meanwhile you can now order Biafran flag, Tshirt, cap etc. Send mail to info@eloquentgift.com

Too much color in the potopoto republic flag

Sir George Tubman Goldie founded the United African Company (UAC) in 1879.In 1900 the Royal Niger Company formerly known as the United African Company SOLD all its territories to the British Empire at the sum of 865, 000 British pounds! Considering the inflation-related fact that 100 British pounds in 1900 had the purchasing power of about 10,636 British pounds in 2017 (check on www.aboutinflation.com), we can conclude that the British Empire paid to the Royal Niger Company more than 83 billion British pounds in present pound value for more than half of present Nigeria.

I swear I prefer to be colonized by racists than the ignorant politicians we have now

I concur with you Oga. If to say we are still under British, life will be far better than this mess we are in. I'm very sure that Nigeria under colonial rule will be among world most developed countries in the world.

Imaging a a rich country in darkness, 50% of millions of youth unemployed. Decayed educational system, very poor health delivery. Worst road network in the world and lots more.

Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa and Co made a very big mistake by fighting and gaining our independence.
