same problem happened between COREN and NSE but it was later resolved.
NSE is not a REGULATORY BODY. It is an association of Engineers . Association of individuals with common interest to seek the well-being and mutual knowledge dissemination/sharing of its MEMBERS through organising of conferences, symposiums and lecture series etc. -the keyword here is Members.
On the other hand COREN is the REGULATORY body for the profession saddled with the responsibility of regulating the practice of the profession and granting of licences to graduates of Engineering to practice the profession of Engineering as Engineer. Hence an Engineers certified by COREN is at liberty to ignore membership of NSE or join the association if he/she so wishes.

God help us, they've turned our profession into something else...

Honestly ARCON is so frustrating.

Yes ARCON Is so frustrating, am not architect, but Ve follow dis issue right from the beginning cos my hubby is one. Imagine, u spend 6-7yrs in university only for the certificate not to be accredited.

Now u did FINAL II, and pass. U sat for PPE in march, pass 2papers, then resit in September and pass. Only for ARCON to come up with ARP just becUse NIA dissolve education board. ARCON didn't seem it fit to exempt those who have done FINALS II just because they want to make money from them. Ask all of them to come to Abuja for 1day and asked them to pay 70k. Pure rubbish! Now coming up with ACP. OK exempt people that did PPE in march that u accepted their results and log book. U said no. But for some people from the northern part of the country, they are exempted from writing report which was not allowed for the Southerners. And Fashola can't see any thing wrong . Over 50‰ of registered architects are from the north. ARCON President have been there for over 10years, can't he be replaced? Is the only architect in Nigeria?

There is no time accreditation is carried out, all university in North scale through while school like OAU don't get accredited. Are they better?


With all this ARCON useless ARP and ACP. The polytechnic graduates are not included. They don't know their fate. Won't they be registered too?

ARCON council members are not even carried along, just selected few are doing this. The most painful aspect of the whole saga, dis Umar is using Southerners against their fellow Southerners, the Northern architects are registered while the southern architects struggle to get registered.


GOD will not come down help us, we just have to fight for ourselves.

Both the NIA president and the Arcon president should be ashamed of themselves. A house they met unified would be left divided. The council and Institute have worked together for ages. The desperation of a few members. probably less than 10 was enough to throw the Architecture profession in disrepute. Thesame people trying their best to make the Institute a club of NGOs were once the head of the Institute. Architect Umar Aliyu was a PPNIA, he suddenly regain his thought and begin to drag the institute in the mud. They are on their own. We give glory to God for not making them more powerful over us than they presently are. The Arcon president would have sent us all back to school!!!.
Whatever their issues his, i hope Architects Umar Aliyu and Braide are both happy with themselves........ Unless we take over the affairs of this noble profession from them, they would not respect the rest of us!!!!....
