unfortunately, this is more than just a drainage problem. The geology of the area is pretty problematic. A lot of what is known as lekki today where originally coastal swamps and lekki is technically below sea level so a little transgrssion from the sea will cause a whole lotta flooding.

What do you expect, these areas were river bank years back. You can never cheat Nature.

did you study geography is secondary SCH?. what did your teacher taught you about coastal areas.. areas of lowland that close to a water body like ocean or river...so you should think before you come here to spew thrash.. BTW lekki is an area carve out by land reclamation..so what do you expect??abuja is a solid land with hard rocks( basement complex in geological terms so nothing of that nature will occur there)

Lagos is a city below sea level so whenever rain falls of this magnitude surfaces.. its gonna flood kos the terrain doesn't allow regression of water body into the sea as oppose to a basement complex with high topography.

Too bad.....I really don't know what to say about Nigeria if this is obtainable in Lekki, Lagos State.

However, all these will be a child's place if there be any rapid sea level rise. To all those sand filling the Atlantic ocean...And rebranding it with names like..

you should not mind some ignorant people here who doesn't know how nature designs the earth to drains excessive water after huge rainfall..people attributes some human waste mismanagement but is lekki like mushin,agege n the likes?
it baffles me when some people come here to say things they know. nothing about..the geology of the area is not been taken serious thereby water bodies can never flow.. simple...real estate developers neglect this when constructing and see where it leads to...drainage patterns,topography also this places are all river banks before,so what do you expect...

Island is closer to the waters. That's why

lagos is zero level if not below sea level hence there is little or no slope for drainage as in a place like jos which is 1400m above sea level.
lagos is being affected by global warming and could be covered by the sea if sea level continues to rise.
