tolutweety:Oh, but it does. Guy, no one has a monopoly of insults or hate speech. So forgive me, if I do not share your view. You saw nothing wrong with the insults those chaps were spewing on this thread, yet you started calling out those that were insulted, asking them not to respond in the same vein. A person cannot sow insults and expect to reap respect, or admiration. Silence means acquiescence, or consent. So I will not advise anyone to be quiet anymore, in the face of such lousy provocation. Those chaps are undeserving of your restraint. 7 Likes 1 Share |

Nigerian German Chemicals Plc, (NGC) has had an interesting, but rather chequered history. It started life as Hoechst Products in Ikeja area of Lagos. Hoechst Products Nigeria Limited was set up in 1964 to sell pharmaceutical and industrial chemicals. But by 1995, the company decided to divest from Nigeria, and it was sold to the Shonekan family. They renamed it Nigerian German Chemicals Plc, (NGC) and increased their shareholding of the firm, on the stock exchange. Among its superior range of products are Benylin Expectorant (for Adults & Children), Broncholyte Elixir, Colipan Tablets & Syrup, Glanil, Gluformin, NGC Valgin - a brand of Acetaminophen 500mg, Daga, Tabalon, Sparwassar Flavoured Waters (Apple and Lime Flavor) etc. Eyitayo Adeboye Shonekan, a lawyer, became Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian-German Chemicals PLC in 1999, and its' Vice-Chairman in 1998. He had joined the firm earlier in 1995 as an Executive Director, and was responsible for Materials Management, Logistics and Import Financing. Prior to NGC, he served as an Investment Officer of International Finance Corporation, a subsidiary of the World Bank from 1990 to 1995. He also serves as a Director of several other companies, including Universe Reinsurance Limited, Unic Insurance PLC, Virgin Nigeria Limited, Critical Rescue International and Intersource S A Limited. Shonekan graduated from the University of Reading, Berkshire, United Kingdom in 1986. He also attended the Management Program at Harvard Business School in 1998. For many years 'Deboye Sonekan was at the helm of the company, and under his watch, the company diversified into the manufacture of household consumer products like detergents, bleaches and disinfectants. The diversification proved successful. https://www.pressreader.com/nigeria/daily-trust/20160107/281908772128431 Nigerian German Chemicals Plc, (NGC) is one of Nigeria's premier manufacturers and distributors of pharmaceutical, consumer products and oil & gas field chemicals. Born out of Hoechst Nigeria, NGC has over 45 years pedigree, in manufacturing quality products. Building on its solid multinational heritage, NGC's commitment to 'best practice' in business management and the pursuit of manufacturing excellence has enabled it to forge strategic relationships with a number of blue chip companies to complement its long standing tradition of manufacturing quality local brands. NGC stands out as Nigeria's foremost indigenous enterprise in the pharmaceutical and chemical fields, providing world-class companies with a vehicle to promote their products in this most challenging of environments. https://www.emis.com/php/company-profile/AC/Nigerian-German_Chemicals_Plc_en_2037244.html; http://www.bloomberg.com/research/stocks/people/person.asp?personId=29536536&privcapId=20357361 In 2015, the Sonekan family decided to sell off part of its large shareholding in Nigerian German Chemicals Plc, to a Mauritius fund-management company, Advanced Finance and Investment Group (AFIG Funds) for $14 million USD. Part of the funds will be invested in the NGC. The new firm has fully taken over as the new core investor in the company, and the Sonekan family (as well as NGC) has walked away with a very tidy sum in foreign currency. Shonekan had hailed the investment from AFIG Funds as the much-needed catalyst to accelerate the growth of the company. “The partnership with AFIG Funds represents a unique opportunity for NGC. AFIG Funds brings not only capital to accelerate the company’s growth and expansion, but also support to management and international experience that is already helping to strengthen the company’s ability to seize new market opportunities. NGC has a long and proud history as a leader in Africa’s largest market, and we look forward to building on this legacy to help strengthen the Nigerian healthcare sector, as well as facilitate access to world-class medicines for the people of Nigeria,” Shonekan said. http://thenationonlineng.net/new-mauritius-core-investor-takes-over-nigerian-german-chemicals/ 7 Likes
