Thanks for the extra effort in exposing them.

Now that one i.e. Weinberg will just go silent and look for another lie to post.

If nobody challenges him, he runs with as an ibo achievement.

Quite pathetic!

They throw spaghetti on the wall and stand back to watch if it will stick. If no one complains they keep repeating it until it becomes acceptable. They force their recognition, through manipulated lies, into the conscience of society.

How many times have you heard that Sir Louis Ojukwu was the first millionaire in Nigeria (even though there are records of Taiwo Olowo and DaRocha, both of whom had lived and are on record as wealthiest Nigerians), or that he was the first President of Nigerian Stock Exchange (not minding there was nothing called Nigerian Stock Exchange in Sir Ojukwu's time, and Lagos Stock Exchange was the brainchild and creation of Yorubas), or to the absurd story of him giving loan to England to fight Second World War (even though he couldn't settle his own debt and lost his house in Lagos to debtors), or that he owned the Rolls Royce the Queen rode in her 1956 visit and her chauffeur was his personal driver (but as important and relevant this man is positioned to be to the English throne not a single picture exist of him in the line of VIPs assembled to welcome and greet the Queen, neither have we seen him pictured with a Rolls before or after the visit)

They learnt the trade from their fathers. If you go into library looking for pre-Nigeria historical records on Ibo and Iboland there is nothing available. Up until 1960, at Nigeria's independence, Ibo was not a known phenomenon. If you look on old maps of Africa Ibo is not listed. Then they started living among Yorubas and attending Yoruba schools and our civilization rubbed off on them. Their scholars began writing comparative history, each time they write about Ibo they made sure mention is made of Yoruba. The academic circle did not see the scam and just accepted that Yoruba and Ibo shared parallel history and civilization. Thats why now if you google anything about Yoruba Greatness and contributio in African history, somewhere in the narrative Ibo will pop up, even though there is nothing tangible, beside ruin, that Ibo has contributed to advance African arts, philosophy, culture, language and religion.

Bolaji Akinboro is a Co-Founder and CEO of Cellulant Nigeria Limited. Prior to assuming this role, he was responsible for the GES project, an agricultural subsidy program for the Nigerian government, that has disbursed fertilizer & seed subsidies worth $1billion USD to rural farmers. Bolaji Akinboro has driven Sales and Marketing functions at Procter & Gamble (P&G) in Nigeria.

He set up P&G in Ghana where he served as its Country Director, and grew the business from scratch to a US$10 million USD per year business, in 2 years. He was recruited by the World Bank through KPMG, to head the Business Development Unit for its Africa Virtual University (AVU) project, based in East Africa. During this time he met Ken Njoroge a Kenyan, and they founded Cellulant, together.

Bolaji Akinboro provided strategic and financial support from a board position, and, having served as Country Director for Planning in Malawi and Tanzania, he helped to set up and oversee Cellulant operations in these two markets. Bolaji is a Pharmacy graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University in Nigeria, and holds a post-graduate certificate in management from Herriot Watt University, in the UK. He is also an alumnus of the Oxford University Business Economics Program.

Goke Akinboro, a geologist and fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), is the Chairman of Cellulant Nigeria Limited. He started his working career with the Peoples Bank of Nigeria where he gained extensive experience in accounting, micro-credits policies and procedures and relationship management. He later joined Diamond Bank in 1996 as a Senior Executive Trainee in Internal Control. He joined the old Standard Trust Bank in 1999 as an Assistant Manager. He left the defunct Standard Trust Bank in September 2004 to focus his attention on Cellulant, setting and heading up the Nigerian country operations.

Cellulant Nigeria Limited, is a mobile commerce company, which operates a payments ecosystem connecting financial sector customers, Mobile Network Operators and businesses, to their increasingly mobile consumers. This software technology firm delivers a connected payment platform, for Africa. From Cape Town to Cairo; Lagos to Nairobi and everywhere in between, they interconnect people and businesses, to a single wallet.

Consumers can access a bank's USSD short code menu/mobile app, then select options to pay specific bills by inputing relevant details. They can also set up a payment profile, via other digital channels. Businesses can assign Cellulant, to manage the payment of bills or accounts, on their behalf (where such bill payments are mandatory). Cellulant can also manage reconciliations and send confirmation to businesses, that payments have been received. Between 2008- 2009, Cellulant was named the top medium sized company in Kenya by KPMG in the Annual Top 100 SME Contest. During this period, they also deployed the first Mobile Banking solution on USSD, for one of the first multi-national banks. It was the third bank in the world, to deploy this solution model.

Most people believe that Anu-Oluwa Poultry Farms, focuses mainly on the rearing and supply of broilers, cockerels and eggs, to the general public. But they are also involved in other aspects of Agriculture, Farming and Fishery.

Peter Adeniyi, the owner of Anu-Oluwa Farms perhaps underestimated the fortunes that would accrue from the seeds sown, when he established the farm, in Ibadan, the ancient capital city of Oyo State. The farm, which has special interest in poultry and egg production for the Nigerian market, has now become one of the largest farms in Nigeria.

It also sells livestock feeds and materials, table eggs, day-old chicks, point of lays, fish and fish fingerlings, as well as livestock vaccines. Adeniyi is one of the most successful farmers in Nigeria.

In 2006, Bibi Bakare-Yusuf — previously an academic in the UK and Nigeria, holding a PhD in Gender Studies from the University of Warwick — set up a company, with her partner Jeremy Weate, to produce high-quality African literature at a price that would enable it to be enjoyed by as wide an audience as possible. With zero experience in business and no publishing experience, the only thing they had was "just passion and a desire to see African stories written and owned by Africans." And so Cassava Republic Press was born.

Cassava Republic Press is a leading African book publishing company founded in Nigeria 2006, by Bibi Bakare-Yusuf. It focuses on affordability, the need to find and develop local talent, and to publish African writers who are too often celebrated only in Europe and America. Cassava Republic's stated mission is "to change the way we all think about African writing. ...to build a new body of African writing that links writers across different times and spaces." It has been stated by a popular newspaper, that the publishing house "is associated with innovation. From driving down the cost of books to using digital media to drive sales, Cassava has consistently striven to redefine the African narrative."

When Nigeria’s Joint Admissions & Matriculation Board (JAMB), the examination body for students who seek to gain admission into universities selected the 2009 novel ‘In Dependence’ as required reading, Bibi Bakare-Yusuf, the publisher declined. She turned down the offer initially, because the publishing director was fed up with pirates cashing in, leaving nothing for authors and publishers. A compromise was then reached with JAMB. The cost of the book was added to the registration fee, so that students could collect the book. That book titled ‘In Dependence’ by Sarah Ladipo Manyika, already a strong seller, sold an additional 1.5 million original copies, within two months.

Four Cassava books will be available in bookstores across the US soon, in a distribution deal the Nigerian publisher brokered with partners. Even though Bibi began Cassava Republic Press in 2003 in Nigeria’s capital Abuja, she knew right from the start that the new company would one day be launched internationally. But Bakare-Yusuf said she needed time to build up a viable African business, first.

It appears the 2013 Yale University World fellows are having a reunion later this year: undecided

Two Nigerians, Tokunboh Ishmael and Lai Yahaya, were named as 2013 Yale World Fellows. “While Ishmael is an impact investment pioneer, Yahaya is an oil sector transparency advocate,” the President of Yale University, Richard C. Levin, said as he announced the 2013 Yale World Fellows.

Ishmael is an investment professional with over 20 years’ experience spanning investment banking, private equity investing, technology and new business development. She is co-founder and Managing Director of Alitheia Capital, a fund management and investment firm based in Nigeria, that channels private equity investments into businesses, and broadens access to finance, energy and housing for SMEs, and low-income households.

Ishmael’s previous roles include Country Partner for Aureos West Africa, and Mergers and Acquisition banker at Salomon Smith Barney. Ishmael is passionate about transforming lives through meaningful investments, that drive job and wealth creation.

Lai Yahaya, a policy entrepreneur, is currently Team Leader of the Facility for Oil Sector Transparency and Reform (FOSTER), a donor-funded programme that supports government and civil society, in a bid to push for greater transparency, accountability and reform in the Nigerian oil sector. Previously, he was a technical adviser on the Nigerian Presidential Taskforce on Power and worked on the Roadmap for Power Sector Reform. He is an ardent activist for probity, efficiency and best practice in government and the private sector.

He was previously Team Leader of the Senior Advisors' Group of the US Government Power Africa Initiative, working with a group of former Heads of State and industry leaders, to provide advice to serving government leaders on how best to navigate and drive power sector reform in sub-Saharan Africa.

Four previous Yale World Fellows hailed from Nigeria. They are: Bibi Bakare-Yusuf, Co-founder and Publishing Director, Cassava Republic Press; Hauwa Ibrahim, Research Associate and Visiting Lecturer, Harvard Divinity School; Ibidapo Oyewole, Technical Adviser, National Planning Commission; and Philomena Chinwe Uwandu, Legal Adviser to the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Ishmael and Yahaya are among 16 World Fellows selected, from a pool of about 2,500 applicants. This year's cohort brings the total number of Yale World Fellows since the programme’s inception in 2002 to 238, representing 81 countries.

The Yale World Fellows Programme is the university’s signature global leadership development initiative and a core element of Yale’s ongoing commitment to internationalisation. Each year, the university invites a group of exemplary mid-career professionals from a wide range of fields and countries for an intensive four-month period of academic enrichment and leadership training.

“The Yale World Fellows Programme consistently attracts outstanding talent,” said World Fellows programme director Michael Cappello, professor of paediatrics at Yale School of Medicine. http://trendyafrica.com/nigerians-named-world-fellows-at-yale-university/

Founder of Ibis Hotel, Ikeja, Otunba Olufemi Okenla

Founder of Ibis Hotel, Ikeja, Otunba Olufemi Okenla, unveils his autobiography, ‘Power of Thought’, to mark his 50th birthday.

When you look at a king’s royal mouth, you would think he never sucked his mother’s breast. This is one of the evergreen sayings from Things Fall Apart, Chinua Achebe’s novel that will ever remain classical.
This proverb very much applies to the life of the founder and Managing Director of Hotel Ibis, Ikeja, Lagos, Chief Olufemi Okenla. Many people will, for instance, think that the man who radiates much financial contentment must have been in affluence all his life.

But Okenlan, who relocated to Nigeria after spending 25 years in the UK, has a lot of tales to tell. When he was studying abroad, for instance, he was once a sawmill attendant in London. When he later worked in a hotel, scrubbing floor and doing other menial jobs, the experience was so cumbersome that he was soon hit by a life-threatening fever.
Okenla was thus compelled to change the job. So ‘lucky’ was he that he was employed as a kitchen ‘manager’ when he had to work with an automatic dish machine, filling dishes into the system. He was of the opinion that the job was more elevating than scrubbing the floor. But that was until the new job also brought a dramatic hazard in the form of a nightmare. In his sleep, he began to see nothing but dishes rolling on the washing machine, thus graduating from the frying pan into the fire.
These are some of the stories Okenla narrates in The Power of Thought: A Compendium of my Life in Half a Century, his autobiography presented in Lagos on Monday. The book marks his 50th birthday, which was celebrated on Tuesday. It captures the writer’s journey from a struggling guy to a successful entrepreneur.
For Okenla, being 50 presents an auspicious time to open the pages of his life for people – especially youths – to read. According to him, his life is a shining evidence that whoever believes in the power of his or her dream and thought is destined for success.
The public presentation, which featured readings from the book, music and comedy by Lagos-based comedian, Kofi, who was the master of ceremonies, was held at the hotel, with several dignitaries in attendance. These included the Group Managing Director of Skye Bank, Mr. Timothy Oguntayo, who was the chairman, Lagos State Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Sadiat Oladunjoye; lawyer and politician, Dr. Muiz Banire, and the Managing Director of Opas Ltd., Mr. Muyiwa Green. The host’s wife, Modupe was also present.
In his review of the book, Associate Professor of Law at the University of Lagos, Akoka, Dr. Dayo Amokaye, commended Okenla for publishing the work which, he believes, will positively affect posterity.
Amokaye said, “The book is motivational and inspiring. It is an invaluable asset to the younger generation and adults that want to be motivated.”
Okenla explained that it took him some time to write the book but that he is very happy to see it out as he believes every reader has a lot to learn from it. He intends to give proceeds to the National Orthopedic Hospital, Igbobi, Lagos and the Spinal Cord Injury Association of Nigeria. The reason for this is that it was the hospital that healed him when he had an accident that affected his spine.
He said, “When some people read this book, they will think it is a fiction. But it is not. It is the truth of what has happened to me. I am a living example. If you can think it and dream it, you can get it. What we believe in is what we are. It is what we become. My philosophy is, ‘Nothing is impossible’. Everything in life is affordable and achievable once we get our priorities right. But many people spend time on what is urgent, not what is important or vital.
“Never give up. Hold on to your dreams. Be patient. Be calm and don’t be afraid of tall dreams.”
The commissioner, who unveiled the book, described the author as a successful entrepreneur and pathfinder per excellence.
She added, “He is a motivator and someone who believes in dignity of labour
