Justice Mohammed Garba, the presiding justice at the Court of Appeal Lagos Division has in a statement faulted the practice of the Nigerian police who resort to enforcing words out of suspects mouth as a measure to make them plead guilty of a crime they may not have committed.



He urges the Police operatives to do engage in a deeper investigation rather than waiting for a confessional statements from the suspects which they usually do.

In the world today, Nigeria has become one of the leading country that uses a confessional statements the basis of making findings during police investigation.

Garba dealt on the issue while speaking at the annual seminar/workshop of the National Association of Judicial Correspondents which was held in Lagos of which the topic is, ‘Administration of Criminal Justice Act 2015: Innovations, challenges and the way forward’ .



However, Justice Garba was represented by Appeal Court Justice Ugochukwu Ogakwu who on that forum appealed to the police to step up and keep pace with the high standards of crime investigation which obtains in all civilized countries of the world.
There should be transparency in the modus operandi and effort should be made on ensuring>>>>

most Nigerian police officers don't persuade suspects to say what they didn't do,they force them to say it ni......persuasion and force and two distinctive things


you better be lucky you are not exchanged for am arm robber,if you fail to comply with them

Human rights violation by the Police and other security agents should be stopped.

Forcing statement out of a suspect is crime against humanity.

Naija police force act in a way it will favour them in any matter at hand if it takes using force,hide and seek,bribe etc to gain what the want the will do it,imagine our caretaker called policemen to arrest the people that beat his wife they arrested the people including him he bailed himself with #7000
