The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has recently revealed that it is yet to fix the 2017 cut off marks for admission.

This was made known in a statement by the JAMB Head of Media, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, he said that the fixing of the cut-off marks decision is yet to be taken, and “is only done at a policy committee meeting with all stakeholders and is chaired by the Minister of Education.”

The examination board also urged candidates to disregard the figures being circulated on the social media. Also, the body has announced that it has commenced the sale of direct entry application form for candidates with A-level results, who are seeking direct admission into degree programmes.

The statement added that JAMB has started the sale of Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) application for Nigerians abroad and foreign candidates who desire to attend tertiary institutions in the country.

The statement reads: “The process is as it was with the UTME, where you create a profile, obtain the PIN and proceed for biometric capturing at the Computer-Based (CBT) centres for direct entry candidates.

“We urge all candidates wishing to register through direct entry to obtain the PIN at Interswitch, Remita or any of the commercial banks earlier approved for the vending of UTME PINS.

The board has also explained that it has not opened its portals for the change of course and institution. “We will soon begin and when we do start, the changes will be done in all approved CBT centres nationwide. Candidates need not necessarily come to the board’s centres for the change. It can be done in any of the centres.

“This is to avoid overcrowding our offices for services that can be obtained at the utmost comfort by the candidates. The delay has been occasioned by the board’s preparation to ensure that the system is smooth and without encumbrances,” the statement added.

JAMB urged the public to note that every candidate desirous of a change of course or institution would be allowed to do so, as the platform will be opened until the close of admission.

It urged candidates not to be desperate or panic, as the process will not be closed as being speculated by those who want to use the opportunity to defraud them. It warned candidates against patronising fraudsters who claim to have the capacity to inflate their scores, urging them to visit the centres and cross check any information that is not clear to them.
