A Pro-democracy Group, Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has alleged that over 20 former governors and deputy governors are on double pay. This allegation was contained in an open letter addressed to the ministry of justice dated 14 July 2017 and signed by SERAP executive director Adetokunbo Mumuni.
The group urged the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, to institute legal action to recover the dubiously earned sums of money by the former leaders who are now either senators or ministers.
SERAP explained in the letter that the former governors and deputy governors were hiding under the guise of retirement and pension laws crafted by them while in office to earn the dubious sums.
According to the letter, the list of former Governors and Deputy Governors benefiting from the crime are;
1. Senate President Bukola Saraki (Kwara)
2. Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso (Kano)
3. Kabiru Gaya (Kano)
4. Godswill Akpabio (Akwa Ibom)
5. Theodore Orji (Abia)
6. Abdullahi Adamu (Nasarawa)
7. Sam Egwu (Ebonyi)
8. Shaaba Lafiagi (Kwara)
9. Joshua Dariye (Plateau)
10. Jonah Jang (Plateau)
11. Ahmed Sani Yarima (Zamfara)
12. Danjuma Goje (Gombe)
13. Bukar Abba Ibrahim (Yobe)
14. Adamu Aliero (Kebbi)
15. George Akume (Benue)
16. Biodun Olujimi (Ekiti)
17. Enyinnaya Harcourt Abaribe (Abia)
18. Rotimi Amaechi (Rivers)
19. Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti)
20. Chris Ngige (Anambra)
21. Babatunde Fashola (Lagos)
The group particularly urged Malami to use his ”good offices as a defender of public interest” to urgently institute appropriate legal actions to challenge the legality of states’ laws permitting former governors, who are now senators and ministers to enjoy governors’ emoluments while drawing normal salaries and allowances in their new political offices.”
It may interest you to know that SERAP is accusing the Governors and Deputy Governors to have dubiously earned up to N40 billion.

I have never seen a more selective and hypocritical individual and organisation like Falana and SERAP.

You can not mention the controversial pension scam for governors without going back to the roots.

The controversial pension scam for governors was first rolled out by the Lagos state house of assembly after a bill legalising this criminality was fowarded to the house by none other than Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the twilight of his administration.

It is from this very bad precedence that other states followed.

Bola Tinubu has been the longest pensioneer drawing equal pay with a sitting Governor for close to 10yrs now.

Not only does Tinubu collect monthly pensions equivalent to that of a sitting Governor but the same pension plan he drafted for himself entitles him to have three choice properties procured for him at tax payers' expense. The pension bill saw to Tinubu getting choice properties at Ikoyi -Bourdillion (his current hq), Maitamma, Abuja and even in London.

Tinubu also gets 5 luxury cars of his choice every 5yrs plus furniture allowance, full medical expenses, travel allowance, domestic servant allowance, personal aide allowance, school fees for his children to any institution of their choice up to any level.

As Dogara, rightly said on tackling the leaves and branches without getting to the root of corruption, Falana and his useless SERAP have decided to play the ostrich over how this wicked pension scam started.

Who will speak for the common man? Who will fight for the common man? Is it senators, is it governors or government officials, they're all thieves of the same camp. But there is God, the wicked shall all perish in their wickedness, even though they escape the corrupt EFCC, the corrupt ICPC, the corrupt judges, they shall surely not escape the wrath of God. If you agree with me shout ise' by clicking like.
