More than half the foreign-trained doctors and dentists failed examinations to secure practice licence of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria this year.
A total 334 doctors and seven dentists who graduated from medical colleges outside Nigeria sat for the assessment this year.
Only 160 doctors and four dentists passed--a 40% success rate.
At their induction at MDCN headquarters, health minister Isaac Adewole called the pass rate "worrisome."
"Parents, please ask questions before you send your ward to overseas institutions," he warned.
"The fact it [the institution] is foreign does not make it good or excellent. Shine your eyes before you spend your hard-earned dollars sending your child to a school that's not good."
Acting MDCN registrar Tajudeen Sanusi called the council examination "a check of knowledge and skills" to ensure that the standards of medical training Nigerian students get abroad measure up to standards in Nigeria.
Passing the exam determines eligibility of new practitioners to be provisionally registered by the council.

Yeah, but a lady who graduated best from a Sudanese university also topped the Nigeria's medical exam while her counterparts from UK, US and your other colonial master countries are no where to be found.

Let me buttress your point a little: If you are not able to study at top and/ or a recognised school abroad, Ife, Ibadan, Lagos, Nsuka, FUTA are your best bet or some of these private universities here not those in/at one Cotonou.

Note also that it is very very easy to pass in those foreign schools compared to Nigerian public universities.

Many universities in Europe and US targeting African students are brief case businesses that aren't even accredited. Esp if you are studying online, search if the university is accredited by their governments to teach the courses they are offering.

Lemme broaden ur scope of argument
A certified dr is licenced in the country of training.
Let's now talk about the limitation of underdeveloped countries training doctors.
A medical graduate of usa ll practice in canada because his training is accredited likewise newzealand likewise australia.
U re trained as a Dr in any African country. Carribean or Ukraine or Russian. Ur training is unaccredited

You used Sudan as an example of a poor place to go for Medicine but she just let you realized that the best of all these foreign trained doctors based on this exam trained in Sudan, while her counterparts from those "good" countries you mentioned couldn't even pass the exam. So it's not always about the country one was trained, but the individual involved.

She didn't top the exams. That news was debunked here on Naira land. The results were just pass and fail. I think someone here posted a link to it in the education section.
