On Focus Nigeria(AIT) Monday 17th Julys' edition, the issues of diversionary politics commenced with the leader of the Integrity Group Livingstone Wechie, debunking his earlier claims that "All documents submitted to the Justice Omereji's Panel of enquiry into Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi's administration were all forged and fabricated- *Livingstone Wechie*.

The above revelation by the man from the revered probity group believed to have headed the probe of Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi administration and brandishing it with so much mismanagements and last minute selling of State assets, goes to confirm that barely one year and ten months to the next elections, the game of politics has commenced in Rivers State.

For those who can recount all that transpired into the present Governors assumption of office, can as well attest to the fact that it all started with this kind of accusations and counter accusations that led to the diversion of public opinions about governance and its originally agreed zoning arrangement in the political parties.

The real issues of ability and capacity to reclaim the widely acclaimed bastardised system within Rivers State Governorship candidates under the political parties were left to chasing shadows, due to the general perspective of tarnishing the image of the former Governor Amaechi. Deceptively, the assumed protection of the Presidential candidate's interest in the State, was made the focal point of Rivers people to believing the keenly calculated plan of retaining power by the Ikwerre ethnic nationality.

Interestingly, assumed lack of confidence in terms of financial capability heralded the hand picking of a weak candidate without party primaries in the opposition party in the State. The fear was that the major contender would truncate the Ikwerre agenda. His loss at the governorship ticket, scalded him down to accepting a Senatorial seat which is still in contention. While the present ruling party in the State, looked for a candidate with the financial base to match the opponent.

They heated up the State to the point of imported all kinds of arsenals and mechanism to ensure winning. Despite several destruction of lives and property, the ruling party emerged.

It is imperative that the Rivers people should learn from the past gimmicks and stop its reoccurrence because a situation where assumed majority ethnic group masterminds violence in other parts of the State that tears down the political structures of other ethnic groups to their benefits, should be guarded against in the coming months.

Those imbroglio by Livingstone Wechie was the same distractive strategy that diverted the interest of Rivers people in the major political party that would have given a better opportunity of realigning the misdirected governance of the State.

My people, the last impasse imposed a scary experience that every well meaning person residing in the State should endeavour to avoid its repeat.

Finally, if the reports from the just concluded Ogbakor Ikwerre convention held overseas was anything to rely on, then the Ikwerres have just kick started the plan to retain power by testing the response of Livingstone Wechie's conflicting reports which is aimed at distracting Rivers peoples attentions to figments of imagination through the adoption of the Machiavellian principles. Those actions that played out in the last political dispensations must not be allowed. If the other ethnic groups in Rivers State do not rise up to the gimmicks where two Sons from the same Ikwerre ethnic Nationality exchanged positions as Governor and Minister, then it will be too hard to recover from the shock Rivers State will be plunged into.
