LIVINGSTONE'S CONFESSIONS, WIKE'S VICIOUSNESS AND AMAECHI'S INNOCENCE Mr. Livingstone Wechie, the vanguard of one Integrity Group that raised a petition against the ministerial nomination of Amaechi to President Buhari, the Senate, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commissions, EFCC and other statutory bodies, shocked his audience with his confessional statements on AIT's Focus Nigeria program, yesterday. Mr. Wechie confessed that the documents with which his group raised a petition against Amaechi, were fraudulently fabricated by the Wike-led State government to disrepute Amaechi and bring him to public ridicule. The Integrity group had in their petition called for the immediate investigation and subsequent prosecution of Amaechi for alleged corruption, breach of public trust, unlawful enrichment and other grafts. The Young Female Progressives, YFP, is concerned that the State government under Governor Wike could engage in such criminality and infraction of law, when it should ordinarily enforce measures that deter crimes. We are therefore, not surprised at the heightened rate of social vices, crimes and related offences in the State. It smacks of high level of moral inadequacies for a government to engage in forgery. The government therefore, can not muster the moral confidence and will to fight the same crime it engenders. We recall that it was the same Wike-led government that accused Amaechi of being the owner of the Ikoyi Osborne Towers in Lagos State where over $48 Million were stashed away. Governor Wike in his usual antics claimed the money belonged to the Rivers State government but failed to advance proofs of ownership for reclamation before a law Court. It has been our fixed position that Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi, the Honourable Minister of Transportation, has always maintained an immaculate and inmitable record of transparency and integrity in all his dealings. Mr. Wechie's confessions do not only vindicate Amaechi but also corroborates our stance. Today, Nigerians at large and Rivers people in particular can now confirm that the Wike-led government in Rivers State thrives on falsehood and criminality, hence, should never be taken seriously.
