People don't always show that prevention is better than cure when it comes to using fire for cooking.

Some people do lock all entrances to their houses including windows while cooking.

*Don't ever do that consciously or unconsciously again*

Locking yourself up in a house while cooking is dangerous in a case of fire outbreak because human beings tend to be afraid.

Once you are afraid, you might lose your thinking rationality:

You may not know where your bunch of keys are; even when you find it easily, it will take time to pick up the one that is suitable for opening the door.

Before you open the door to carry buckets of water or run away, fire might have escalated or its smoke might have affected you..

*Think safety first*: Don't lock your house or kitchen entrances while cooking.
