Many people have come to associate height with power but this is rarely the case for these Nigerian leaders. They may be diminutive but they possessed the most powerful influence in the nation. Although some are dead but the others still command respect in the local and international scene.

1. Shehu Shagari

Shehu shagari ruled this nation from October 1, 1979 – December 31, 1983. He served as the first and only president of the second republic after he took over from General Olusegun Obasanjo. Shehu Shagari however was not a tall person. He did make impactful contribution towards the country during his 4 years reign.

2. Sanni Abacha

Sanni Abacha was usually seen as the face of military regime in Nigeria. He ruled Nigerian for four years from 1993 to 1998. Abacha's military career is distinguished by a string of successful coups. He is by some records the most successful coup plotter in the history of Nigeria's military. However one would think this leader had a commanding presence. Sanni Abachi was a very short man but he was feared by all. He unfortunately died in 1998 at the presidential villa.

3. Ibrahim Babangida

General Babangida was one of the longest serving head of state in Nigeria. He ruled from 1985 to 1993. His tenure was marked with fear and horror as he spared no mercy against his perceived enemies. Babangida overthrew Buhari's regime on 27 August 1985 in a military coup that relied on mid-level officers that Babangida had strategically positioned over the years. General Ibrahim Babangida was also a short man.
