Yes, they're now being highly marginalized because Buhari is fast recuperating to take over power from Prof. Coordinator.

An apex Yoruba socio-cultural group, Yoruba Council of Elders, YCE, has noted that Nigeria is sitting on keg of gunpowder.

According to the group, the quit notice by coalition of Arewa Youths on Igbos living in the North and agitation for State of Biafra by groups in the Southeast were a reflection of the political atmosphere in the country.

The group said this after its 19th executive members meeting held in Ibadan yesterday, the Oyo State capital.

Addressing newsmen immediately after the meeting, Secretary General of the council, Dr Kunle Olajide said, “We are sitting on a keg of gunpowder because no part of the country except the South West is at peace and that peace in the South West is a peace of the graveyard.

“We have the largest number of unemployed graduates and our infrastructures have collapsed. As far as YCE is concerned, the quit notice by the Arewa Youths and the call for Biafra by IPOB are a reflection of political thermometer and temperature of Nigeria.

“It shows there is uneasiness in every part of this nation. If Arewa youths could go to Arewa House to give ultimatum, then you should know they have the backing of some of their leaders.”

This is so annoying. The elders and some yorubas knew this and they are still one of the most vocal groups championing the union of this country. Fact remains, Nigerian potential as a function of her human resources (one of the few reason for staying in the union) is merely a fantasy- at least for the short/medium term. Slowly but surely they have managed to kill Oyo state (despite the huge potential) in favour of places like kaduna and kano. Yet, the short sighted youth still continues to shout sai baba.

The short and medium term damage is not worth any future rewards as most African countries are being left behind.

This is True. And yet Yoruba is the one singular factor holding Nigeria together.
Nothing defines insanity more than the generality of the Yorubas who despite being the most decimated within the infernal contraption called Nigeria, they continue to use their blood to cement it together.

I am a bonafide Oodua son. Please elders, who told you the South West is at peace with Nigeria. For you to say that means you do not have your ears to the ground or you are totally disconnected from the people over whom you claim to be elders.
We did not select you to be our elders but, having assumed the position, we accept you as our elders going by our cherished culture of respect to elders.
But for you to now command our respect, we urge you to please do for us what we want - the SW is carrying the brunt of one Nigeria. We have been taken back several decades from our pace of development.
Our educational system is in shambles courtesy of the northern conspiracy to hold us down while they catch up with us.
Our land is suffering from serious enchroachment from undesirable, intolerant, ingratutous, imbecillic, uncouthed elements we would rather do without. Our people are restive. Our people are being swindled on a daily basis through the sale of adulterated, fake drugs, sub-standard electrical and electronic products. Covert conspiracy is being hatched by illegal non-indigenes to exert their influence on our lands through the subterfuge of elections.
I repeat, our people are restive. You rightly opined that the country is sitting on a keg of gunpowder but you do not know that it is more so in the South West.
On certain issues but not all, it would be advisable if our elders consider FFK as the real spokesman of mainstream yoruba.
He recently cried out to be given Oduduwa. It was not a joke nor was he just flying a kite. He aptly spoke the minds of the yoruba at home and in diaspora.
Our least demand therefore a return to pre-66 constitution or a breakaway.
We would also want no opposition or objection whatsoever to any group or region seeking an ouster out of Nigeria.
It should be apparent to everybody except those living in delusion and self-denial that Nigeria is not working and if she remains unworkable after 103 years of a forced marriage and 57 years after independence, we see no hope of its ever working as presently structured.

You are indeed in touch with the reality of things as far as Yorubas are concerned, unlike those bunch of elders who call themselves Afenifere, YCE, Egbe Ijinle Yoruba etc who ever since their inception has done nothing significant or tangible to favor the interest of the Yoruba at large.

So far their children are safely tucked away abroad and their business are undisturbed here, these packs of old folks are comfortable with the status quo and will continue to pretend to see no evil and hear no evil. The real spokesmen were and are FFK, Fela, Wole Soyinka, Fasheun etc and not these circus-runners who only feel the need to voice out every once in a while just to make sure obscurity isn't devouring them the way Nigeria is bleeding their people.
