Despite being demoted to coaching the Super Eagles Team B, consisting of locally based players, Shuaibu Amodu will be in charge of the Super Eagles for a friendly game on March 3 with a yet to be determined opponent.

A top NFF source told KickOffNigeria.com that the team would consist of a combination of local players and fringe foreign-based players.

"The Technical Committee are expected to provide a shortlist of three to the board by the end of February, but the time is too short for us to appoint him and let him take charge of the friendly on March 3.

"So Amodu will be in charge for that game. But the team will be some home-based players, and a few foreign-based players who will be given a chance to stake their claims for places in the team for the World Cup," the NFF official, who did not want to be named, said.

No opponent has yet been chosen for the March 3 date, the only FIFA window before the end of the season, after a proposed move to play Portugal fell through.

"The Technical Committee are working on some opponents and will report back to the board at the next meeting," our source said.

The current situation is bound to lead to further confusion as to the role of Shuaibu Amodu going forward.
