Barely few hours after six students abducted from Igbonla Model College in Epe Local Government, Lagos State were released, the state government has disclosed the students would undergo medical tests and trauma therapy before been reunited with their families.

The students were abducted 65 days ago after gunmen stormed their school, profiled 10 and abducted six through the waterways, even as it was gathered that the parents of the abducted students paid over N20 million to the kidnappers before their release on Friday about 4pm.

Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Steve Ayorinde, who disclosed the need for the test in a statement on Friday, said that the test was to ensure that the students were certified okay by medical expert before reuniting with their parents and relatives.

Ayorinde, in a statement made available to TheGuild, expressed excitement over the students release after their abduction two months ago from their school premises.

“This is a welcome development and the State Government has always believed that the students would be released unhurt. The news of their release is therefore a confirmation of that belief and we are glad that they would be reuniting with their families,” Ayorinde said.
