In as much as I detest politics, I can't help but comment on the present chaos we find ourselves as a nation...

The truth is, the problem we have boils down to you and me as a person not just our politicians or the religious folks.
This issue in particular has really eaten so deep into us in such a way that;

We all see getting things done the dubious way or going through the back door as being smart and if you as a person tries to be diligent and go through the right channel, we tag as being stupid/dull.

We all want the easy way out because if you can't beat them, you join them. We don't believe in hard work and all we want is to rob Peter to pay Paul.

We see the act of lying as a norm (which is very common with the religious folks) and also believe so much in miracles forgetting about hard work and dedication in getting things done.

It is just so sad today that people are appointed to important positions in government not based on competence or performance but based on favouritism, nepotism and who sabi who, forgetting the fact that there is no magic to success and if you try to be different that's the end.

We preach what we don't practice and we put so much attention on things that are irrelevant!

When you get to ask an average Nigerian irrespective of his religion or believe what happiness means, all we get to hear is; I want to serve God and have all the good things in life without stress but even after having it all what most are missing is the contention /(Dieziani's) part.

An average Nigerian is never contended with the little he/she has because he wants to have it all and our crave for success and the love of money is second to none which shouldn't be in a sane society.

Our system is so corrupted and has been messed up because we are all too greedy and are bloody hypocrites.

I believe these are the little details we really need to address before we could get it right as a nation ....

And in our own little way be the change we want to see.

As for those in authority, we must keep them on their toes, and keep providing credible alternatives policy-wise and personnel-wise.
Biases based on religion, ethnicity, gender, mundane politics et al. must be done away with and people must know they can trust us when they commit tasks to us.

I believe all hope is not lost, but truth is, it's gonna be a long walk. We need to have a frank discussion about the future of our country.

It's really going to be a long work and I believe we need to start preaching this so it could change our default mentality about what is needed of us to do as a nation.

There's a big difference between knowing the right thing to do and doing the right thing.

While the latter is always difficult, however it all boils down to paying attention to the little details to get that desired result. It's my hope and believe that we will soon get it right as a nation.

It's time to stop visualising and take action, the future is here and it's now!

Be the change.

From a concerned citizen.
God bless Nigeria
God bless Nairaland
