Fela was a man who spoke for the oppressed and down trodden. A man who spoke the truth the way he knows it. A great African. Ever since fela passed away from planet Earth,we have never seen another like him ,not until recently he ressurected in this young man called Nnamdi Kanu.
It is very important to note that, just like Nnamdi Kanu, a great deal of people never liked fela when he was alive. They called him an igbo smoker,an idiot who lived irresponsibly as he couldn't control his desire for sex,an idiotic fellow with no respect for elders.

In his song "coffin for head of state",he spoke against the so called men of God who live in fine houses and wear the best clothes,but their followers live in dirty surroundings,and some can barely afford to buy soap to wash their dirty clothes. He saw the stupendous wealth pastors like oyedepo,adeboye,etal acquired as a result of payments made by members. In view of this, he educated his followers on why it would be suicidal for these pastors to support the right to self determination of the igbos,as they wouldn't want their revenues slashed. For this, he was called out for abusing yoruba pastors.

Fela
He called out the corrupt leaders of his time, most especially obasanjo who he accused of killing his mother. Fela even called obasanjo a baboon with a fat stomach,and called Abiola names like ; International Thief Thief; International Rogue. For this, he was called out for not behaving like a good omoluabi .

Nnamdi Kanu
The other day ,he rained insults on obasanjo ,and he was labeled a personal non grata by some folks. The same obasanjo who killed fela's mother is preferred to kanu in today's world.
