Chelsea Legend-Frank Lampard has joined BT Sports as a pundit and will make his debut for the broadcaster at the Community Shield.

Lampard will join other BT Sports pundits to provide insight into the Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League and Europa League matches.
'I'm delighted to be joining BT Sport,' said Lampard, who will kick-off his official pundit role during Chelsea community shield encounter against Arsenal at the Wembley Stadium.

'I'm looking forward to an exciting new season both here and in Europe and can't wait to begin working with the team.'

The 39-year-old last summer announced his official retirement from competitive football after leaving his last club-New York City last year. However, he did work briefly for Sky Sports as a pundit last season.

Meanwhile, BT acknowledged that the former Chelsea midfielder did have many offers from elsewhere before joining the broadcaster.

Simon Green, head of BT Sport, said: 'It's no secret that Frank had many offers, both within the game and elsewhere, following his retirement, so we are absolutely thrilled that he has chosen to join the team at BT Sport.

'Frank needs no introduction as a Chelsea and England legend and he has already shown in his first appearances as a broadcaster that he is going to be a shrewd and insightful expert.

'Frank's incredible pedigree on the field means that he'll regularly be commenting on a competition that he's won as a player, which we believe gives him fantastic credibility.'
