The government can keep on greasing palms after palms just to placate these people, the blackmail will NEVER stop as long as we have no other major means of sustenance.

I remember an article Bruce wrote sometime ago about the "dictatorship of the minority" (something like that) where he opined that "unless Nigeria finds oil in as much quantity elsewhere in the country as there is in the Niger Delta, the region would continue to hold the country to ransom". There, he made a case for the propriety of oil exploration in the Chad basin and other such places far flung from the ND.

He talked about the abhorrence of nature to the concept of singularity and how such situations, wherever they occur, breed nothing but trouble and alot other undesirable stuffs. Reason why in nature we muat always have such opposites like man and woman, forest and grassland, desert and ocean, day and night, black and white, rich and poor, etc.

As long as this situation of singularity/monopoly as regards our means of income as per location and commodity persists, this cycle of blackmail and intimidation in return for quick cash both from the elders and youths of the region will continue to be our lot.

So, what's the difference between Niger Delta youths like Asari, Tompolo, dudafa etc and elders like Edwin Clark? They are all greedy rogues if you ask me.

you are fraying nerves with this unintelligent assertions.
Firstly, you failed to acknowledge the root cause of instability in the Niger delta. It's not just oil,it's the environmental degradation brought by that exploration and which value is not felt by people suffering it's negative impacts.
Secondly, you wrongly assumed that finding oil in another place will stop the agitation by the Niger delta groups. Isn't that a diabolical statement. You should ask what govt has done to uplift the people that are suffering the carnage of the oil exploration. That's what justice entails.
BTW, Nigeria must not be oil oil,we must create manufacturing industries, technologies and stop capital flight, so that the little money we got can be home with us.

Edwin Clark sells out to the highest bidder.

He dumped GEJ once he left power and moved on without ever looking back.

Scam, I know they must have given him his own package so that he can go and postpone our suffering. The FG have done it before,(OGONI CLEAN UP) with mere promises that they themselves know they don't have any plan to help the SS people

Peace is what we need to prosper in our nation. But peace without justice is impossible. The government of the day needs to expedite a genuine process to settle the grievances of the peoples. God bless Nigeria.

osibanjo knows within him that they cannot solve the Niger Delta debacle ,the same way they are managing buhari till 2019 same way they are managing Niger delta issue.buharis intention was to wipe out the Niger delta once Clinton and Obama succeeds in their election bid but God so kind donald trump was used to humble them hence the confusion in their camp.
It is about time to allow the Niger delta control their resources ,they have been treated as the minority group meanwhile they are the majority.they are majority because they contribute largely to the economy of Nigeria.
having large land scape and large population without being useful to Nigeria economy doesnt make you a majority group.

Such articles will always be remembered by people like you but when he makes a case against the impoverishment of the same region you simply took him to the cleaners.
Talk about hypocrisy and double standard.
If the FG and the people that benefits from such arrangements isn't getting the best out of it , would they have maintained such policies for more than 50yrs ? What we need is empathy and not these show of shame while trying to maintain a high moral ground even as you stink to high heavens with corrupt practices. Nigeria is a big fraud.
