Lagos postpones 2017 Hajj intending pilgrims airlifting due to logistics

In a move to ensure 2017 Hajj exercise is free from hitches, Lagos State Government has postponed initial fixed date for airlifting of intending pilgrims from Nigeria to Saudi Arabia which was suppose to begins 4th of August, due to logistic reasons, claiming would guarantee safety and welfare of pilgrims as they embark on the holy pilgrimage.

According to the state government , the decision on postponement of the airlifting is for the benefits of the pilgrims, who were responsibility of Lagos, to ensure the journey is hitch free.

The Commissioner, Lagos State Ministry of for Home Affairs, Dr. Abdul Hakeem Abdul Lateef, said that transportation of pilgrims to Saudi Arabia would begin on 5th of August and that the first flight Boeing 747, being first batch, would take care of 460 intending pilgrims from Agege, Ajeromi and Alimosho local governments with some state officials.
