With little less introduction, Android is clearly the most used mobile Operating System in the world, dusting of likes of iOS and Windows OS.


Android is a Linux-based operating system designed for Mobile and Tablet and Smartphones Which was released on 5 Nov. 2007 with Android Beta Version. And was developed by Google and The Open Handset Alliance (OHA). The first Commercial version of Android 1.0 was released on 23 Sep – 2008.

Here you know what features was added to the each versions of Android OS including photos and its latest update from the very beginning up to the rumored update Android 8.0.

Below are the Lists of All Android Version :

Android 1.1


Android 1.1 Version was released on 9 Feb, 2009
Android 1.5: Cupcake

Cupcake was released in April 2009, it was the first ever Android updates, and it as features likes; intergration of home screen widgets, support for folders on home screen, stereo bluetooth support, copy and paste in web browser, video recording and playback, on-screen keyboard, video upload on YouTube, Picasa photo upload.


Android 1.6: Donut



It was released in September 2009, It was called code name 'Donut'. It features includes; Quick search boxes, an updated camera interface, camcorder and gallery, updated Google play, CDMA/EVDO & VPN Support, battery usage indicator, WVGA screen resolution support, text to speech engine.


Android 2.0-2.1: Eclair



It was code name 'Eclair', and released in October of 2009 which was based on the Linux kernel. These version brought in the email and contact sync, bluetooth 2.1 support, live wallpapers, Google maps navigator, an updated browser, support for multiple accounts, an improved keyboard, SMS serach option and exchange support.


Android 2.2 – 2.3.3: Froyo



The Android version was released in May of 2010 and it as update likes: Android Cloud to Device messaging, car mode and night mode in UI framework, dedicated shortcuts in homescreen, Chrome V8 JS Engine in browsr, portable hotspots, multiple keyboard languages, various speed and performance improvements, enhanced Microsoft exchange support and support for Adobe flash.

Android 2.3 – 2.3.7: Gingerbread


Android 2.3 Gingerbread SDK was released on Dec 6,2010. These release brought in user interface refinements, better control over applications, NFC support, video chat in Google Talk, new download manager, native input and sensor events, native support for SIP VOIP, faster/more intuitive text input, enhanced copy and paste option.

Android 3.0 – 3.2.6: Honeycomb


Android 3.0 Honeycomb was released on Feb 22, 2011. Honeycomb ushered in the era of tablets with flexible interface design that showcases large imaginery and seamless on screen navigation, customizable homescreen, quick access to camera features, hardware acceleration, a revamped user interface designed specifically for tablets, an action bar, improved multi-talking, u pdated standard Android apps, better copy/paste, redesigned keyboard.

Android 4.0 – 4.0.4: Ice Cream Sandwich


In late 2011, Android version 4.0 was released and this release brought features likes: Built in photo editor, WiFi direct, resizable widgets, Android beam, enhanced mail options, improved multi-tasking, face unlock, improved text and voice input, soft buttons can replace hard buttons and data usage warning.

Android 4.1 – 4.3.1: Jelly Bean


In 2012, Jelly Bean version was release and it brought in multi user profiles for tablets, openGL ES, Bluetooth smart ready, restricted user profiles for tablets, day dream, larger rich and actionable notifications, Google Now, Offline voice dictation, a more streamliner user interface, performance improvements, smat widget palcement, lock screen widgets.


Android 4.4 – 4.4.4: Kit Kat


Android 4.4 Kitkat was announced on Sep 3, 2013 by Google. This Android 4.4 was optimised to run on a huge range of smartphone then oldest Android Version, Having 512 MB RAM. It features includes: Refreshed interface with white elements instead of blue, Clock no longer shows bold hours, leaving just the numbers, Ability for applications to trigger translucency in the navigation and status bars, Ability for applications to use "immersive mode" to keep the navigation and status bars hidden while maintaining user interaction, Camera application now loads Google+ Photos instead of Gallery when swiping away from the camera view.


Android 5.0 – 5.1.1: Lollipop


Android 5.0 is the most used version of Android mobile operating system developed by Google. Unveiled on June 25, 2014. Features includes: redesigned user interface built around a responsive design language referred to as 'material design', multiscreen, improvements to the notifications, which can be accessed from the lockscreen and displated within applications as top-of-the-screen banners.

Android 6.0: Marshmallow


Android 6.0 Marshmallow was released on May 28, 2015 during Google I/O. It features includes: Contextual search from keywords within apps, introduction of Doze mode, which reduces CPU speed while the screen is off in order to save battery life, App Standby feature, Application search bar and favorites, Native fingerprint reader support, Renamed "Priority" mode to "Do Not Disturb" mode, App Linking for faster instinctive opening of links with corresponding applications, Larger Application folders with multiple pages, Demo Mode feature for screenshot-capture usage, Automatic full data backup and restore for apps, 4K display mode for apps, Adoptable External storage to behave like Internal Storage,Experimental multi-window feature.

Android 7.0: Nougat


Android 7.0 Nougat is the latest version of Android which will be release in the month of August or September 2016. It features includes: Ability to display color calibration, Ability to screen zoom, Ability to switch apps by double tapping in overview button, Added Emergency information part, Added the "Clear All" button in Overview screen, Another system partition, which gets updated when not in use, allowing for seamless system updates, Daydream virtual reality platform (VR interface), Improved Doze functionality, which aims to prolong battery life, Improvements to file browser, Improved fingerprint swipe performance.

Android 8.0: Oreo/Orange/Oatcak (Not Confirmed)
Android "O" is the working title of an upcoming release of the Android mobile operating system. It was first released as an alpha quality developer preview on March 21, 2017. It is internally codenamed “Oatmeal Cookie,” though final release names have differed from internal release names.
