HELLO FELLOW NAIRA LANDERS,PLS I NEED YOUR HELP ON THIS ISSUE,MY CAMRY 2000,BOUGHT AND USED FOR 7 MONTHS,EACH TIME AM DRIVING ,THE CAR,SUDDENLY BEGINS TO ACCELERATE AND DECELERATE ON ITS OWN AND ALSO MAKE THIS LOUD NOISE AS IF BAD CLUTCHING WAS CARRIED OUT IN A MANUAL TRANSMISSON ,ALSO THE SPEDOMETER NEEDLES NOW POINTS ERRATICALLY,FROM LETS SAY 60 -180 TO 0 LIKE THAT.ALSO WEN IN A SLOW TRAFFIC.THE CAR HESITATES TO MOVE BEFORE FINALLY MOVING.SOM SAY ITS THE SPEED SENSOR,SOME SAY ITS THE GEAR BOX.I HAVE EVEN CHANGED THE GEARBOX,BUT THE PROBLEM HAS REMAINED.PLS HELP.

1. Whats the mileage on the trip meter?
2. Do you have any smoke issues when it drags on movement?
3. Does it show any check oil (engine alert)?
4. Did the speedometer needle just start this or did you buy the vehicle like that?
5. If it started after you used it for a while, did it start at about the same time the movement thing started?

This will help in knowing what the issue is.

This one seems like a case for a strong native doctor/ prayer house, the car needs deliverance fast! (Just joking sha)

the mileage is 95,000km,no oil light on,the speedometer,problem started with acceleration problem.these problem all started 7 months after i bought and drove the car .no smoking issues from the car.

maybe it cld be from the brainbox or the airflow meter.

1. Let them bring out your Camry's fuel pump; test it for pressure - If the pressure is low; let them wash/clean it and test again. If its still low pressure then let them get you a tokumbo one at Ladipo - either they test it for pressure there and bring to you or you take the car there and have them test it before you pay.

2. IF your fuel pump pressure is normal - Please have them reset your vehicle's brainbox.

@owan,thanks.i actually scanned the car,and the codes gave a camshaft position sensor malfunction,and a shift solenoid malfunction.am just trying to tap from the experience of ny camry owner who might have had a similar probs.

My closest to your model is my Lexus. But you might want to try out my options since I have had that loss of power experience with it once and was told the gear was not shifting.

They checked and replaced the fuel pump for about 3k and reset the brain box and the car rolls. Very fast ever since.

I understand the scan thing BUT it sounds complicated to me and looks like a spend-hole to me.

Since u have scanned the car clear all codes rescan again,if same dtc appears get them checked including Airflow meter and fuel pump,

The guy just said it was his CPS, so look for the CPS and see if the wire/connector is loose. The shift solenoid should be somewhee on transmission. check the CPS first it on the engine near camshaft

Isn't because if this reason that Toyota is recalling alot of their cars??
